Howdy...Looking for some help/advice on a good location to request for Port Orleans-Riverside.
I would like to be ground floor, closest to the Riverside Mill Food Court.
I did check out a map but trust first hand experience more :)
Thanks!

Check out this site, this has helpful info for room types, locations etc. https://www.portorleans.org/maps-and-directions.php

I've used the room request feature in touring plans, think that only comes with paid membership but we've always had good luck with the requests we've made. We've stayed in the royal rooms in the mansions and standard rooms in alligator bayou. We don't mind walking and for us, we'd rather be closer to the bus stops than the food court area. Buildings 16, 17, 26 and 28 will give you the best proximity to the food court if you aren't staying in the mansions and not paying for a preferred room.

Our last stay there was in a Royal Room in Oak Manor; VERY quick access to main buildings. If you prefer Alligator Bayou rooms, the preferred rooms are going to be closest.

What kind of room did you book?

We're fans of Alligator Bayou, but we also have needed a fifth sleeper most of the times that we've stayed there and you can only find those in AG. My favorite building we've stayed in is 34. It was far from the main building, yes, but very close to the bus stop (which is the first one dropped off and picked up) and the quiet pool in that section, which meant more to us than going to the main building a lot.

Alligator Bayou is imho some of
the best areas on Disney love it there.
Other than Alligator bayou....id goto POFQ

I wouldn't worry about it so much. POR has a reputation of being really spread out but the times I've stayed there I've gone running and the trail goes all of the way down to POFQ and the loop is only a mile. It took me a couple of laps to realize that I was running around a lake, not a river. It's just more of that Disney magic.

We have stayed there a few times now and are going back again this summer there---but we have learned that we like booking a preferred room because we like being closer to the food court and main pool with the kids. I like Alligator Bayou better than the Mansions---despite originally wanting and not getting a mansion room the first time we stayed there. 28 and 26 are in a nice location---still relatively close to the main building. 16 and 17 aren't bad either, but are much closer to a parking lot, so if you booked a standard room you could end up with a parking lot view there. If you will have a car on property that could be an advantage. Overall the resort as a whole is a great place---otherwise we wouldn't keep booking there. Keep in mind that sometime room requests work and other times they do not. The first two times we stayed there, we did not get our request honored. So we started booking a preferred room so that we could be closer to the main building.

We agree with @TOBS2010, we like Preferred at POR because it guarantees that you will be in an Alligator Bayou room and close to the Lobby and food court. We love POR AB rooms, but some can be super far out if your requests aren't met.

As many others have recommended, book a Preferred room. This will put you in one of the four buildings closest to the food court et al. Then your only request would be ground floor.
