We are flying out of Philadelphia at 11:20 and arrive MCO at 1:55 -- with a little luck we will be eating an ice cream on Main Street by 5:00  Hope your family has a fantastic trip!

:woohoo::woohoo: And we all hope you're bringing your laptop so you can go snoop and report back with photo evidence of Acadian House renos :goodvibes
popcorn::

OOPs! for some reason I thought you were leaving tomorrow! Never mind - lol

Just checked into newly reverb room in Acadian House. I have pics of room but can't figure out how to get them off my iPhone and then onto the boards. Any help??:confused3

Room is nice and has that fresh paint smell. I have never stayed in a Manor room before but based on pics I have seen. There are new headboards with pictures on them. One of a plantation home and the other of a paddle wheel boat. Otherwise the rooms look the same and the new tv stand looks like the one from POFQ rehab pics I have seen.

If I can't get the photos uploaded, I will do it when I get back home after the 12th. Unless someone beats me to it.

Now off to Magic Kingdom after our midday siesta. :goodvibes

oh I hope you can figure out the photo thing :yay: What about the bathrooms? Were they re-done? New Tile? sinks, vanities ,etc? New carpets? What color are the bed spreads? Walls? Drapes? Details!!! More details

Doe anyone know if it's possible to book a preferred room and also a king bed?! First time staying at POR since the room category changes! January can't come soon enough! Thanks

I was wondering why the limit occupancy to the Royal Room is 4? I want to book it for my upcoming trip. my family is consist of 5 people ( me, DH, DS, DD, and DD) I just dont want to book 2 room when my kids are 3, 4, and 8... it a safety issue I'm concerning and also I think it a waste of money if I book 2 rooms when my kids going to be in the same room as me and DH and leaving the other room empty..

No, you'll need to book one category (Preferred or King, whichever is more important to you) and then request the other option.

I was wondering why the limit occupancy to the Royal Room is 4?

The three-story mansion buildings have a maximum capacity of 4 persons per room (plus any infants under 3) just like the other moderates. However the smaller 64-room Alligator Bayou buildings have a capacity of 5 people per room, which we assume is down to fire-exit safety requirements. Unfortunately for you, all of the Royal Rooms are going to be located in the mansion section, hence the limit.

Andre

Maybe someone can help?

Which buildings are included in the "preferred" booking category?

Thanks :)

Also, is there a chance of requesting a river view in one of the preferred rooms? Or would a water view just be a view of a pool in one of those buildings?

Yeah water view is just pool now. They cleared it up now specifying a river view or water view.

To the guest with five: the alligator bayou rooms will have a five occupancy because of they have a built in slide out trundle bed. At least my room I had last year did. They will be eventually updating some of them to royal guest rooms.

14, 15, 18 and 27 only.

Some of the rooms in 14, 18 and 27 do face the river, so I don't quite know how they work - are they booked as "river view" rooms or "preferred rooms"? Disney's systems really aren't geared up to deal with us 'Type A' hotel guests... :)

Sorry, but none of the Alligator Bayou rooms are getting the Royal treatment, only Oak Manor and Parterre Place in the mansion buildings.

That sucks they will only have two buildings with royal theme upgrades. If they arent done by the time i get there were going to the poly on Disney's dime.

I am a little worried here. My dates for being there in POR are from 2/24/2012-3/3/2012. But according to these dates I am worried if it will be available for me or not. I reserved a royal themed room with river view.

Magnolia Bend, Oak Manor: starts 15 January 2012, for approx. five weeks [Royal Themed Rooms]
Magnolia Bend, Parterre Place: starts 19 February 2012, for approx. five weeks [Royal Themed Rooms]

Shouldn't be a problem, Oak Manor will be open with its Royal Themed rooms from 17 Feb.

Andre

But I have a reservation for a River View one on top of all of that, lol.

"As we reported a few days ago, bookings are now live on the Walt Disney World website, with room availability starting from 4 March 2012."

I'm biting my nails here, not so patiently waiting for that pic that has yet to surface on here of the refurbed room........

If you already have reserved it, then I wouldn't worry about it. As Andre said, Oak Manor will be done by then and there will be river view rooms in Oak Manor. If they didn't anticipate this, they wouldn't allow booking for it. Currently, the refurbs have remained true to the tentative schedule.

15 more days!!! Nice to hear that Acadian House is done but interested in seeing the pics. :)
