I've got a standard view Royal Room booked. Other than requesting Oak Manor, which I already have, is there anything else I should request? I'd like to be close to the main building if possible - will that work with standard view? Are there any corner standard view rooms?

Thanks.

I do miss a good fry up !!!

[QUOTE=andrewilley;46837230]It's a fairly lean, thinly-sliced piece of gammon ham (also referred to as 'back bacon'), usually grilled or fried until the meat is cooked through and the fatty edge is just starting to turn crispy. The meat is not charcoaled to within an inch of its existence, which seems to be the aim in the US. :) See http://www.thegreatbritishdiet.co.uk/Articles/Bacon.html.

What the Americans serve is generally regarded as "streaky bacon", and while a few Brits do like it, most regard is as a distinctly cheap and vastly inferior over-fatty cut.

A proper full (OK, very full) British Breakfast would be something like this, from http://www.telegraph.co.uk/comment/.../Leave-the-great-British-breakfast-alone.html:

With a standard room you most likely will be on the back side facing the parking lot.

Shhhhhh, don't let it get out lol. Yeah I was happy to see another rgr relocated guest back in here after last year!

Wow good for you!! With the 37% AP discount Poly was good deal but 35% at POR was really good. Love the Poly magic but I know we will have just as good of a time at POR :)

Any tips ??

Hi everyone,

We just booked for a few weeks from now and were only able to get a garden room, where we have only stayed preferred before. Can anyone recommend some good locations in AB for a lot of tired, small feet? Thanks! :goodvibes

Playing Devil's Advocate for a moment here, it's possible that someone else saw your phone while housekeeping were working on your room and nipped in and grabbed it (I've seen housekeepers prop doors open while they go back and forth carrying stuff from their cleaning cart, and I think it would not be too hard to snatch something while the maid was cleaning the bathroom for example). Then, when the phone was found to be locked it was simply thrown away in haste by the opportunist. However there's always the other possibility that you imply, which is much less palatable.

It's possible, I did leave it on the bed closest to the door. However, I don't think it is likely given how quiet it was near our room. I can't even recall seeing anyone pass by our room in the 6 nights we stayed so I don't think it is likely. Also, from what we saw when the rooms were being cleaned the doors were closed. Dh actually noted to me the day after my phone went missing because when we came back from breakfast our room door was closed but housekeeping was in there. He thought it was odd because on our cruise vacations the doors were always open when housekeeping was cleaning.

To be honest I don't even care what happened. When you leave a iphone which can be worth $400 retail, out someone may be tempted to pick it up and walk away with it. It was stupidity on my part leaving it. I really posted this for two reasons.

1. I just wanted readers to know that even though it's Disney things can happen, it's best to check the room before you leave and make sure valuables are locked up or taken with you.

2. Password protecting electronics may make them less desirable for someone to steal.

If something does go missing from your room check with lost and found immediately because it still may have been turned in.

Yeah Mods are getting great deals right now. I just like POR's feel to me.

iPhones have a apple ID that can track its where abouts all the time you should contact your carrier and see where they last pinged the phone from. Then contact the authorities and advise them of the situation.

Thank you for letting me know, I was wondering if there was a way to obtain that info.

Sorry Andre this will be the last of this off topic message here. But Melissabo iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks have the best return rate to their original owners.

From looking at the map here http://portorleans.org/room-requests.php looks like building 16 or 17 would be the closest. Also from the description of the King Bed rooms on Andre's website, there are some King's available in the preferred buildings.

I am pretty sure that since both King Bed and Preferred are bookable catagories, you'll have to make a choice as to which is more important and the other would be a request. You can book a preferred location and request a King or book a King and request a preferred locations. If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will be by shortly to correct me.

You are correct...that's exactly what we did. We booked a King and requested preferred. The King was more important to us, which is why we booked that category. The rest is just gravy, right? Afterall, we'll be in WDW

Getting back to POR talk, one of my favorite things from last week was sitting on a bench with DH while we sipped a cup of coffee. Our boys would play at the playground and DH and I would just watch them and chit chat our day. Listening to the Christmas songs and enjoying the relaxed vibe of the resort made it even better. We can't wait to go back.

I know this is kinda against the purpose of the thread here... but I would recommend taking it as an opportunity to go visit the Boardwalk. Last time I was down in Disney was during the playoffs and my girlfriend and I went to see our team play at the ESPN Zone. It was a TON of fun. A lot of sports fans around and everyone was super friendly (even those cheering for the team we were playing).

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Cannot beat the atmosphere for a regular football game and I bet it's fantastic for the Superbowl.

Wish I had found this forum before our recent trip to POR.
The resort was beautiful, food court was great, boat to DTD was wonderful.
Beds were very comfortable
Had a few complaints while at resort. First one was I could not believe there were no luggage carts to help you transport your luggage to your building from parking lot. We made several trips and were dropping things all over the walkway. I asked two Mousekeepers if POR furnished luggage carts but they could not speak English. They were polite but they could not help. Totally gave us out hauling all our luggage after our long journey to WDW.
Second was on our first night back from all day at MK (we stayed for extra magic hours) my daughter wanted to wash her hair so she wouldn't have to in the morning. She started to blow dry her hair and it started smoking and shooting sparks. She went to bed with her hair still damp and woke up with a head cold that she kept for the remainder of our trip. They did replace this the next day but the damage had already been done.
Third was the entry keypad cover kept falling off and we had to pop it back on every time we went out the door.
I left a tip for Mousekeepers each day. Never was left a towel animal and one day they did not even leave us any shampoo & soap.
These all may seem like small things but they took a little magic away from our stay.

Yes, there are corner standard view rooms. Most of the standard Royal Rooms are on the opposite side from the main facilities areas though (they face the parking lots) but if you put in a request to be as close to the main building as possible you might get lucky...

First one was I could not believe there were no luggage carts to help you transport your luggage to your building from parking lot.

It's easy in hindsight, but the best way is to take all your bags to Bell Services when you check in (you just can pull up right beside the desk) and they will drive everything over to your room in a pargo and they also have wheeled trolleys to get everything right to your door. Otherwise it can be a real trek with lots of heavy bags.

Sorry about your other issues - as you say, the little things can add up.

Andre
