There are no Water View category rooms in buildings 14 or 27, but there are eight in building 18 so that's the building you should request. (Water View, River View and King Bed bookings override the fact that the rest of the building is classed as 'preferred' by the way)

As the availability there is fairly limited it might be a good idea to put a second choice in your requests too; I'd suggest the next most convenient Water View locations would be the ones in Magnolia Terrace.

Andre
27 does have water view rooms. We had a gorgeous view of the river in building 27. 27 was very convenient to the bridge to the feature pool and the food court wasn't a long walk either. If I have time this weekend I will look on photobucket and put up a pic of the view.

Just booked a surprise vacation in February using the just received special room only discounts from Disney. This will be our first time to visit WDW during the month of February. What are some of the special things that Disney offers during this time of year.:confused3

Nope, it doesn't. There are some very nice River View rooms though (which is a different category).

Also you might get a sneaky Garden View room such as 2756, which is a corner room and the second window overlooks the river, really nice location.

Yeah just River Views, Great 360s by the way!!!

That pic was from building 14, I noticed and removed it within about a minute but you were just too quick, LOL. The view is pretty similar from 27 though, just a little further along the pathway to the left.

Thanks for the comments on the 360s, yes they have come out very nicely now, especially the outdoor ones. I changed the stitching software I was using and readjusted the images from the original RAW files, and it's made quite a difference.

Yeah like a ninja! :lmao: Your Welcome!

It's actually still very lush, there's quite a lot of evergreen foliage around.

See these two 360-degree panoramas which were shot in mid-February for an idea of what it looks like then:

Marina area
Ol' Man Island pool area

By the way, I've now finished updating all of the Panoramas on my website - www.portorleans.org/panoramas.php. They look much better now I've colour-corrected them, and there are also now downloadable HQ versions of all of them. I must shoot some more when I'm back next February (especially some POFQ ones).

Andre

Just went to the site to see all the panoramics and they were awesome. Thank you. Now I'm getting even more excited for my stay in Dec.

Andre,

Thanks so much for your quick response. Those pictures are really nice, I'm going to head over to your site and check out the rest. I'm so happy to see that everything still looks so pretty. Is it bad that I don't think I can wait till January, lol.

I want to thank Venomhatch for all your help. I just spoke with a wonderful man who was more than happy to help me. E said he did not see a problem with us getting our requests and noted them on our reservation.

I will update with more information once we get there.

Again thank you for your help you have been a great help.

Very nice of you! Your welcome of course. I try to do or help if I can. But I am far from a miracle worker lol. Hope you have a magical time here!

I forgot they changed categories since my last visit. When we last stayed it was water view or standard I believe. I stand corrected. We loved our view last time but this time wee want a lovely parking lot view so we booked standard.

I had to book standard last time, since it was what my traveling companions could afford. Same with my trip next year.

We had a wonderful room at the back of Acadian House, near the bus depot. It was a perfect location and we also had two smokers that made it easier for them to walk out into the parking lot to take a break.

What I also loved about it was that even though we were at the opposite end of the buidling, it was wonderful coming back at the end of the day, because you could duck under the walkway above and get out of the sun almost immediately.

We are considering staying at POR for the first time for our May trip. After going thru all of the Moderate resorts I think i have finally made up my mind! :thumbsup2

I have a few questions... and I apologize in advance if they've already been asked, this is such a HUGE thread I can't look thru every post!!

This resort looks huge! With 2 little kids and a double stroller to push around I am thinking our best bet would be to just pay the extra and book a preferred room. In a preferred room (I know there are several different buildings we may be in) about how far away (walking time) is...

The main building
The bus stop
The main pool
The play ground

Is there a certain 'perferred' building that is better than the others?

My next question... I've read about the Bayou Pirate Adventure that they have for kids on certain days of the week. I think my son would enjoy something like this (he'll be 4.5 at the time of our next trip) and I was wondering if anyone had any more info on it... is it worth the money? Do the kids enjoy it?

Next question... The Campfires. I read somewhere they were only seasonal but somewhere else I saw said they were year round. We'll be there at the end of May, will they have them then and are they worth going to?

Next question... My DH would like to attend church on Sunday, it will probably be only him, since I'm considering the Bayou Pirate Adventure that morning for my son... I know he would need to get a taxi. Has anyone ever booked a taxi from POR to the Mary Queen of the Universe Church? How much does it cost?

Final question... How are the buses coming home from the park at closing time? Will we have a long wait? Will we be standing on the buses back to the resort? Do the buses come pretty frequently? This will be our first time staying onsite with kids and having to relay on DME for transportation. I'm not concerned about getting to the park (plan to leave early), it's coming back to the resort at the end of the day with 2 tired kids I'm worried about! :)

Thank you!!!

I havent stayed at POR since 2005 but I can tell you that each and every day the bus system can differ at each and every resort! Some days are great others days not so great and others terrrible, there really is NO way to tell ahead of time.

Buses will come frequently for each park, and depending on time of yr or how busy the parks are they will add buses. Buses will run for an hour after park closing but you WILL have to wait in a line to get on a bus and more than one bus will come BUT dont be suprised if there is standing room only at times, which is fine these buses are built to accomidate ppl standing as well.

I cant answer the campfire. I know that for the Mansions, preferredd is Oak Manor and then for AB its building 14 & 15. As far as the walk I dont really remember since 2005 was my last stay at POR, we will be back in Dec in AB tho.

As far as how much the taxi is, you can have the front desk give you the best company to call and call ahead of time to find out.

Hopefully someone will come around shortly and know more..

They ship UPS from the conceirge desk. I shipped 2 medium/large boxes home in August and they were about $20 each. One box was my own from shipping stuff down, the other I got from the gift shop. If you think you will need a box from the gift shop get it early in the week, they go fast as the weekend approaches with guests checking out. You fill out a UPS form with address and CC info, then they give you a copy of the form. My boxes went out in 2-3 days and arrived home in about a week.

Thanks for the very helpful info.....That is good to know they use UPS...Appreciate it:):):)

No I am sorry they do not. "2" Queen Sized Beds Only.

Yea, its kind of a bummer. We were interested in the royal rooms but wanted the king bed since its just my new hubby and I.

about how far away (walking time) is...

The bus stop - 2-6 mins
The main pool - 3-7 mins

14 is generally the closest for everything, and most people suggest that one.

My next question... I've read about the Bayou Pirate Adventure that they have for kids on certain days of the week. I think my son would enjoy something like this (he'll be 4.5 at the time of our next trip) and I was wondering if anyone had any more info on it...

See www.portorleans.org/recreation.php#Pirate

They are all year round, and free so well worth a visit. See info on the same page quoted above.
