Hi all, have any of you ever been to POR for NYE? I'm planning a trip this year between xmas an NY. I've stayed at CSR and we loved it but would like to try something different. Would love to stay at AKL but the price that week is a bit high so I just can't justify it. I thought the royal room would be fun for DD and the fact that you can take a boat to DTD is a bonus. From what I hear NYE is crazy so I don't think I will do a park and then I hear if you do DTD the traffic is a nightmare. It would be nice to be able to just take a boat.

Can you tell me if the hotel is decorated for xmas? Do they do anything special on NYE? Am I right in my thought that I could get from the hotel to DTD on the boat on NYE for dinner w/o it being a major hassle?? Anyone else have any reasons why they love this place??

All of Disney gets Xmas decorations, Port Orleans has some nice ones around the lobby areas, etc.

For New Year 2011/12 they did a celebration at the resort, that wasn’t especially advertised, showed the “Rockin New Years Eve Party” from Times Square and had a dance party. It was apparently very well received so hopefully they might do the same again this year.

when we showed her the package and the countdown calendar we asked her "do you know what this means?" She just gave us a blank stare lol Then we told her we are taking you to Disney & she goes "right now" :lmao:

Then she has the most pathetic look on her face when we told her no :rotfl2:

Once she really understood everything she was jumping around saying "OMG we are going to disney...cant wait to tell my friends"

We are staying at POR for the first time in May the 5-12. We are really looking forward to it and thanks to this wonderful thread I have learned so much. Well I'm still reading through it so back to work, maybe I can make it through it this weekend.

When you reserve a resort or package, you are sent your final itinerary and cute luggage tags that you use if you are being picked up at the airport by Magical Express. This is sent to you after your final pmt is received. It's exciting! Venom is worried because his hasn't come yet and he leaves very soon. Welcome to the family. :goodvibes

Andre, thank you so much for the info. Great to know they've done something on NYE and may do it again. Do you know if this was an adult only thing like in the lounge or in the restaurant and kids were allowed to go too??
