question... looking at the refurb rooms at POR .. the fold out bed... is there a weight limit on that?? the old crappy trundle bed used to be only for a small child, just wondering ...

The new murphy fold down beds are for children 9 and under only. My daughter is 9.5 and I was worried about the size. I tried booking online with my daughter as a 10 year old and I wouldn't let me get POR. So the age is the big thing. Parties of 5 can only book POR if the 5th person is 9 or under. The length of the bed is 65 inches, or 5 feet 5 inches. My daughter will be tight once her head is on a pillow. I imagine feet will be dangling. She assures me she will be fine and not to worry. :lovestruc

If I really wanted a queen bed and found out there might be a problem I think I would look to book a different mod. Both POFQ and CSR have queen beds.

I know lots of people who book YC over BC to make sure they get a full balcony. Since POR and POFZ are sister resorts just like BC/YC wouldn't that be a good way to get the best of both worlds?

We are a party of 5. Again, can't move to a moderate with queen beds. Looks like many of us that are affected with the queen issue are parties of 5 where each inch of sleeping space counts! Good wishes to everyone in their queen bed quest. Fingers crossed for all of you!

We'll have to arrange a meet for the August POR trippers :yay:

I think the perfect meeting place would be at Yee Haa Bob's show. When are you there? A freind of mine that is not a Diser is also going the last week of Aug we plan to meet up at Hoop Dee Doo.

Anyone want to help me get hunmcbunny up for their impending trip?

LOL

We travel with our three youngest so I know what you mean.

Another options might be the Dolphin. We found rates there in the past that were comparable (sometimes even less expensive) than the Disney mods. Of course this wouldn't work if you want the dining plan.

Good luck.

If you're looking at the Disney website, remember that the booking system is still based on the older trundle bed rooms at present, which have always been quoted by Disney as being 65" long (which is odd, as the mattresses are actually 70"x30" - I measured one!). Also, you can currently book 4 adults and a child right up to the age of 17 in one room at POR on the website.

I'm still waiting for someone to measure the new Murphy beds for me - any volunteers?

Andre

We were so looking forward to our June trip to POR, but the queen beds issue is one of the reasons I am thinking about cancelling our resort and looking for something different. :sad2: The other thing was when I called the day after the AP rates came out and found that they were doing all these new room categories (seriously - a water view room at POR where there are no balconies?!!) and that they wanted to charge me MORE with the AP discount for a room that didn't really offer me anything more. It just left a bad taste in my mouth. :sad1:

Ok I cant help but wonder this. WHERE CAN OUR MICKEY MAIL BE?

1. Disney says they have been mailed out on the 17th of Jan.
2. We booked through AAA Agent, and I have bugged the crap out of her, and she hasnt seen it yet.
3. Seriously I am bugging up and down the walls right now. Any suggestions lol?

So you are saying the new murphy could possibly be SMALLER than 65 inches long?? This can be worse than I thought.

And I swear I tried to book my youngest as 10 years old and it didn't work. Perhaps I am mistaken though.

I just tried and it allows me to put three kids in with the youngest at 10. The verbiage is misleading

(Trundle bed is 35" X 65" and not recommended for Guests over 9 years of age).

From the looks of it, I think some people who don't read closely may be in for a big surprise trying to put a teenager on a "trundle" and finding the new murphy bed. My son saw a picture of it and called it a "changing table"! It looks very small. Hoping someone can measure it.

When do they usually send those out? I am 31 days away.

I really don't think anything much will come out of Disney until opening day, unless any sections of the building are soft-opened before then anyway.

Now if someone happens to spot an inadvertantly open door and pokes a camera round the corner to grab a quick snap is another matter... but please folks, don't break any rules or ask staff to do so!

Three weeks seems like a long time for it to arrive but if there is one thing we learnt on this thread is that the call centre doesn't always know what they are talking about.

Mine came 14 days before our trip and I paid in full with only one day left before the deadline. You have 17 more days before your trip so you still have time...mind you mail does take longer to get to Canada. I hope you get it by this weekend and it's all correct.

OKay, so I've been reading the boards and seeing that not all of the rooms have queen size beds. So, it's not a huge deal, but... I booked a Preferred Room. I called Guest Relations and the gentleman that I talked to told me that all of the preferred rooms have Queen sized beds.

I'm not sure if I believe this or not. I'm so confused and don't know what to believe. I've read that the CM are telling people false information and decided to go straight to the source. :confused3
