We are just back from our trip. We stayed at the POR in AB building #27. I can't remember the room number. We were there from 2/8-2/11 and really enjoyed it!

There are 6 of us and the room is quite large and we never felt on top of each other.

The pools were great and the kids loved the slide at Ole Man Island.

The only problem we had was when I called Guest Services asking if there was a microwave available, I was told no. Needless to say there is and I found it the night before we checked out.

We also visited all of the Resorts on the Monorail. Our favorite was the Poly!

When we visited the GF, we walked down the stairs and decided to take the glass sided elevator back up. It went up very slowly and there was obviously something wrong with it. I told my dh that I couldn't wait to get off. It stopped on the 2nd floor but the doors didn't open. Instead it dropped us back to the 1st floor. Thank God it was only one floor! My kids were crying and my dh and I were both shaken up!

We called security on the elevators emergency phone and got put on hold. The operator heard me say that I couldn't believe it and she put me through. It took about 10 minutes for them to come. In the meantime we were banging on the windows trying to get someone from the cashier's desks to see us. Finally two guards came and forced the doors open. We were about a foot still from the 1st floor and we hopped down and left immeadiately. It was quite a scary experience. We were petrified that it would take off and then drop us again.

Glad to hear you enjoyed Port Orleans Riverside. I'll be heading there in May!
Yikes about the elevator in the Grand Floridian!

Sorry about the elevator. We will be staying at the POR
in April. Where is the microwave?

Thanks, it was an experience that we will never forget. lol

The microwave is in the food court, right by the window where you pick up pizzas.

We will be making PO Riverside our first stay
on our first trip to DW!

Thanks for the tip about the microwave.......glad to hear
to that the rooms are larger than usual!

I will have to tell my kids about the pool and slide!

Can you tell I'm excited!? :)
I'm more excited than any of my five children are!

PORiverside sounds really charming!

Anyone have any hints on fiding the resort w/ ease?
In 3 weeks we wil be there and we will be arriving
after midnight.....our plane doesn't land until like 11:30 at
night! Then we are renting a van. I hope we can
find it at night.....we have NEVER been to Orlando
or Florida, but at least the roads won't be congested
or crowded at that time of the night!

Would love any other hints or stories about the PO Riverside!

Did the CMs at least apologize profusely for the elevator? I would think they would have wanted to be sure the kids (at least) weren't too traumatized. My kids are a bit afraid of elevators as it is. This would have freaked them out.

We are going to POR in 2 weeks. We were thinking of requesting buildings 25, 26 or 28. We have 5 people so we know we will be in AB. How was your building and how long was the walk to the food court? How were the buses? How was the pool?

Thanks.

I haven't been to the airport but they have lots of signs everywhere for Disney. Just keep with the signs heading for Downtown Disney and you go right by POR.

The CM's never knew we were even stuck in the elavator! The two guards let us out and we left.

Building 27 was great! It was a good hike to the parking lot but not bad at all to the main building and we were close to the Ole Man Island Pool.

We all really like the Pool but the wait for the buses was long. Everyone would always cheer when one would show up. lol

You can read my trip report, it is in my sig line.

jennifer,
sounds like you guys had an interesting trip to say the least. The elevator and open door thing is pretty spooky. I'm glad everything worked out ok on both of those issues. One question: do you recall what the slide at ole man island was like? we will be staying at POFQ next month and thought we might go check out the pool over there. thanks in advance.

The slide was great. My kids and DH really liked it.

You climbed some stairs to the right of the slide. There was a CM there to watch over things. The slide faced the left and then curved down inside a hill back into the pool.
