Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter Room Request Fax Thread

Just faxed in my requests!

"We would like a room on the 2nd floor close to a quiet pool in Alligator Bayou. We don’t mind the hike! :)"

I requested buildings 24, 25, 35 and 36. I know not many people request those far back buildings, but I love the serenity and the ease to the quiet pools! Hoping for some pixie dust... pixiedust:

We sent our room request yesterday :) Arriving on Wednesday! CAN.NOT.WAIT!! We have reserved a Garden View, but really don't care about the view - just hoping for as close to the main building as possible! Awesome template VenomHatch! Thank you! :thumbsup2

Hi, have a question if anyone can help answer it. Talking POFQ. We have a garden view room but I don't care about room view or location but for medical reasons I need something very specific and I don't think the people on the phone understand, and I know the people at POR a few years ago did not understand because they placed us in the worse possible place and it took me two hours in a rain storm with a two year old to find the main building and ask them to get me to the room they gave me.

I am blind and many hours during our trip I am alone, walking back to my room, for different reasons. So I request a room with a straight path or as near straight path as possible. This could be building 7 or 1 or 4, I can walk, I just want as straight a path as possible. So l me walk out back of food court turn left and stay straight for 200 feet, turn right and go straight ahead and your room is there.

I have looked at maps and done as much research as I can. I have called and these people just don't understand, they tried to put me in a room with visual warnings, I'm like no I don't want a room that will have flashing lights if there is a fire, does Disney want a multimillion dollar lawsuit if I die in a fire because they put a blind person in a room that you don't hear an alarm you see it.

Anyway, this thread my be the best thing for me, I will fax a request in two weeks, I am thinking building 3 or 4 but it has to be on the rows facing the river, or 5 and 2 facing the pool, first floor. Does anyone know which one might be the best.

Getting my fax ready for tomorrow or Wednesday. We booked GV as it was the only thing available with Visa discount. Requested a ground floor near Sassagoula. Explained we've been trying to book Preferred but unsuccessful and willing to take any category room with priority bring close to food and transportation.
Does that sound reasonable?

They may have it available still I would inquire about it and see if they can get you in a certain building you like and then mention your trying to get as close as you can to the Sassagoula also. That may help you. Also it never hurts to inquire again at check in. Most upgrades are done on the spot at check in.

Just wanted to update. Due to the snow storm we arrived a day late and late at night. Perhaps that is why our requests were not considered. We were placed in building 37 (I figured we'd be way out there as everything seemed to be going wrong at the time) BUT...it's wasn't that bad! A nice walk through the island and wasn't terribly long. Of course we were only there the 2 nights so a whole week of that walk might be a different story :) Overall, we continue to be very happy with POR!

Do all AB rooms have the extra Murphy/trundle/whatever u want to call it bed? I really don't need it and would prefer the room configuration of the mansion rooms. Just wondering if there are options. How do I word my request for the room I want. I already am paying for garden view.

They all have them in the AB area. You don't have to have it folded out and in fact has a nice bench there slash dresser mural there when not in use. It doesn't even extend out too far into the walking area when in either position. So no worries about it taking up floor space having that room design.

Yes they all do. Just request to be in the mansion section.

Tough to tell based on a map, so hoping y'all can weigh in for a POFQ first timer...

How intimate is POFQ, really? We have a garden view booked, and I think I'd rather be on the Riverside facing "side" of the pool as we do plan to walk to that resort a time or two to check it out, but is it even worth "requesting" something like "Buildings 4, 5 or 6" in the grand scheme of things? Whats the total effect on walks from being on that side of the pool to the other, or just in general throughout the 7 buildings?

I know the front page in the thread suggests sending around 7-10 days in advance of arrival. Is that influenced at all by how busy things will be during the time period of our trip?

We're arriving on the Thursday just ahead of Easter Weekend, which by all accounts is going to be busy.

Trying to figure out if I should set my reminder to send the fax on the Thursday before, or perhaps even earlier in the week than that.

Well I used to say a month out but I determined that was too far ahead. So I would say maybe 2 weeks out would be the maximum time out.

I have stayed there in the past and I don't think it is a huge walk to get from one side of the property to the other.

For those of you that have stayed at POR in the RGR, do you prefer a ground level or 2nd level floor of Oak Manor?

When should we be at the bus stop to be able to be at Magic Kingdom by rope drop with it opening at 9:00 ?

We always get to the bus stop 1 hour before park opening. Never had a problem getting to the park on time when doing this!

I prefer second floor and not near a stairs, It cuts down on foot traffic a lot by your room while your trying to go to sleep.

I definitely prefer first floor. When pushing the stroller or carrying two sleeping kids... Steps or elevators are the enemy! We just stayed in oak manor and had no problems with noise from above or foot traffic outside. One suggestion is to get a garden view because the rooms face the courtyard. This way people usually walk through the courtyard instead of directly by the room.

Thank you does this get you in the front of the line on busy days and do you see the opening ceremony ?

If you want to be at the front of the MK line I'd suggest aiming for a little earlier, to get to the actual park entrance a good 30 mins before opening time. However if you are at the front of the line, you will be almost inside the side tunnel area, underneath the train tracks, so you won't see very much of the opening ceremony (which happens in front of the train). You need to choose to either get a nice view of the ceremony, or be standing in front of the rope waiting to get in, you can't really do both in one day.

so a family of 5 - 2 adults 3 kids, 11, 9 and 2 would automatically be in the AB section correct?
