Port Orleans Review w/Pics -LONG!

Excellent review, thank you. We go to POR in Oct, for the first time. We are taking our parents and my brother along with us (DW, 6 yr old DD, and I), so it should be a great trip. We requested the mansions, because my mom really likes that "Gone with the Wind" type stuff. Since you have been in the mansions and the bayou, how do they compare? Both great experiences, just different themes?

What a great report! We have stayed at POR three times and are hoping to go back in November!! You brought back such great memories for me of sitting outside at night people watching and drinking coffee when we were last there in Nov. 2004!! I can hear the sound of the horses hooves too! Have stayed in the mansions all three times and will ask for AB section this time because of your description!! Sounds wonderful!

So Happy to hear your trip was that wonderful. We have only been to POFQ but not POR. We are going Nov. 23- 28 for Thanksgiving and I have ressie's for POR. It was a tossup. My DH wanted to stay at WL, but it's a little more affordable for us at POR. I cannot wait now I am soooo excited. I have some questions. Do they still have the refillable mugs? I have my DH and 2 DS, how much do you think breakfast cost at the food court. They are all good eaters. My oldest DS will probably do adult meal. What do you think for dinner also? THanks in advance

The mansions are gorgeous. Very manicured and symmetrical. Nicely landscaped in a manicured way. I wouldn't hesitate to stay in either. The furniture in the mansions is french provincial and the furniture in the bayou is rustic. You'll love the mansions. I prefer rustic, but would stay at either.

Oh, I saved all my food receipts - I can easily answer that. Breakfast for 5 of us which consisted of 3 teens ran between 20 - 27 dollars. Dinner was averaging 33 - 40. Some examples of prices are: adult breakfast = 5.59, bagel 2.29, Chic tender bskt + 6.59, Cajun shrimp salad = 6.39, Taco salad= 6.99, Chick alfredo = 7.99, fruit cup = 2.79, cheeseburger basket 6.29. Anyway, I was figuring 150.00 food budget per day for the 5 of us and we were well within the budget. We had lunch at Le Cellier, and 50's Prime Time and dinner at Boatwrights. Other than that we had all counter service or food court.

great report. We had our first trip there from June 20-30th. We were in bldg 27. I felt the same way you did about the resort. It was so peaceful, especially after a busy day at the parks. It's amazing how the resort can be totally sold out and not feel crowded.

Nice trip report and pictures. I also love POR. I stayed there 2 years ago and had one of the best vacations ever. I am staying at CBR this August and really hope I like it as much. Your trip review really made me want to go back to POR.
