My mom and I are staying here during Christmas 2008. What would you say is the best section to stay at?
Thanks

we stayed in room 3905 in the bayou. it was a hilke to get to the food court, but we were less than 5 mins from the bus stop. we did have a pool and the laundry right outside our room, which was a huge hit with my kids.

The AB section does not have elevators, so keep that in mind. I love the looks of the Mansions.

Port Orleans Riverside Magnolia Bend in the Magnolia Terrace. It's closest to the food court and its gorgeous! :cool1:

We stayed in Alligator Bayou, rooms 3401 and 3402 and it was gorgeous! The food court was a walk, but we loved the closeness to the bus stop and the surroundings were much prettier than the mansions. The mansions section just look like huge buildings to me....

Here's some pictures of the Bayou...

Stay at the French Quarter. Bldg 4 or 5. Close to food court. Pool is great here also.

I had reservations about staying in Alligator Bayou, but the pictures don't do it justice! It was a BEAUTIFUL area and I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in the resort! We were in building 16 this past August. It was a short walk to the food court, it was a short walk to the south depot bus stop if you cross through the parking lot for building 15 (there was a little pathway) and the quiet pool was right below our room! It was a great location! Good luck!!

I think it depends on what style you prefer?

If you love very casual/rustic country setting-
AB might be your style--it has patchwork bedding, log/twig wood
furniture--real rustic. Landscaping is more natural, very very lush.

If you prefer less rustic and more romantic feel setting--
the Mansion Section could fit your taste--manicured
lawns with shaped hedges and flower beds--gazebos, decrative
water fountains--Sweeping staircases, some ironwork--
floral bedding, cherry furniture. Think Gone with the Wind.

If you like more of Urban sophistocated and Charming resort--
then you will enjoy POFQs--is a smaller resort--has more of
a Urban feel to the architecture--Beautiful Wrought-iron railing-
Unique building designs and colors--Nicest Hot Tub and pool bar--
Wonderful Courtyards with fountains--1st bus stop going to parks.
Bedding has a Carnival/Party theme, fretwork in the door to the sink
area. Based on New Orleans French Quaters.

I am sure you will enjoy the whole resort, no matter what section you
will be staying--it's a great place.

Are you staying at Port Orleans Riverside or Port Orleans French Quarter? They are 2 different, though sister, resorts. It will make a difference! Riverside has numbered buildings at alligator bayou or various named mansions; French Quarter has numbers buildings. They are 2 different resorts, 2 different check-ins, foodcourts etc. You can walk between the two, it can be a little hike depending on location.

I second the Magnolia mansion. It is beautiful and so close to things.

WE just returned from POR this past Saturday Feb 2nd. We were at the alligator bayou building 14. Very close to dining and the bus. The view was very pretty with the river and the ducks. The mansions looked awesome just like the old south but they seemed to not be as conveniant for the dining. My husband is in a wheelchair so that was important to us to be close to everything. You will not be dissaponted it is very beautiful and quiet. The boat ride to down town is very nice also.
