Port Orleans Refurbishment

Just got an email from Disney that POR will be under contruction while we’re there in Sept-Oct.

When I booked it CSR and CBR were both under construction.
Really didn’t want to stay at a hotel under construction.

It's not "construction" just room refurbishments. They will probably do one building at a time. It won't be bad.

I was just emailed that during our upcoming stay at Port Orleans Riverside from 11/30/2018-12/05/18, that there will be rooms under construction. I just wanted to spread this so that people know before booking. I try my hardest not to stay with active construction at a resort, but obviously there is always the possibility.

So they are doing POFQ now .......... and the rooms are quite bland. My question and/or concern is when they get to POR. What will happen to the Royal Rooms and the AB rooms? Will they change them to the bland? Or are just the regular Mansion rooms getting renovations right now?

We were at POFQ during the previous room renovation. As a PP said they do a building or a couple of floors at a time. It had no effect on our stay. Nothing like CBR .

At POR, it will be a room refurbishment. 99.99% of guests will not even know it's happening.

I received the email as well yesterday and we will be there in late Nov. I am not concerned at all. Just hoping that we get one of the finished rooms

The room refurbs are low impact and unless it's a building near you, you won't notice it's happening. Do a little bit of research to see which buildings have been refurb'ed already when you get closer to the date and you can request a specific building for location reasons but it's just a request, you may or may not get it. But they do the room remodeling in sections by building so just keep watch on the project.

I’m going early October and staying at AB.
My email just said select rooms and nothing about AB section.

Agree, I don't really care for the new rooms at FQ. I requested to stay in one of the non-refurbished rooms at FQ this past week so I could enjoy the theming. We stayed in AB in 2013 and I thought the rooms were SO well done!

Just went through the same thing for my trip in October. I booked CBR thinking I could make do, but then I looked at the online photos of the construction and it looked terrible, so that was out. Then I looked at CSR and I decided construction was just not going to work for me. So, I booked at POR and the next day got the email about refurb. Was not happy and immediately changed to POFQ--I generally like to stay at different resorts each time, but now it's 3 in a row at POFQ due to all of these issues. Good luck with your Sep/Oct trip!
