hello! Can anyone help? We are currently booked in to the port orleans riverside in april but are wondering if it would worth the extra to upgrade to the polynesian. We have two children 4 and 2 and are looking to make it extra special.

Also can we upgrade when we arrive or do we have to do it through our travel agent.

Also if we did upgrade would we require a car?

We have stayed at both. We love POR. The Polynesian is nice since it is on the monorail. With little ones this can be a plus. But I think that the niceness of the Polynesian would be lost on the kids. The pool at POR is very nice. You know,,,,it's funny but last summer we stayed at the Polynesian. This was my dd's biggest wish. She loves POR but for some reason she really wanted the Polynesian. When we got a terrific rate at the Polynesian we grabbed it. Well. My dd didn't seem to be so happy when we got there. I asked her what the problem was. Her answer?? "It just doesn't feel as magical as POR." I think that was because POR was the only place she had stayed.

Now, the Polynesian has two queen size beds and a daybed that is a twin bed. The rooms are bigger than POR. POR has a big food court. Polynesian doesn't. But it does have a smaller court type restuarant. The pool at the Polynesian is zero entry which is nice. Both have pools for little ones.

Would I upgrade? Probably not. But that's just me. I love POR. If you do decide to change, you would have to do it with your TA. It's really not something I would do at arrival. There may not be any rooms open for your travel times at the Polynesian. Check with your TA and see what the difference would be. Good luck with your planning.

And welcome to the DisBoards!!!

My vote between those two is the Poly, simply because of the monorail. It's my DH's favorite resort (so far) for atmosphere. My DD's loved making leis in the lobby when they arrived. The monorail saved our lives more than once!

We absolutly love the Poly!! We find being on the monorail circuit to be very beneficial with children, plus I love walking out of my hotel and seeing the castle first thing in the morning.

We also rent a Pontoon boat so we can spend some time out on the water and slowly go past the MK and watch the people filing in - we like doing this on Sat when the MK is the busiest.

We have never stayed at POR and I'm sure it's great (isn't everything at Disney though). I just wanted you to know how much we love the Poly.

If your DD loves POR than you should follow your heart and stay where she will be happy. I guess when we go to Disney I try to make the trip as magical as possible for my children so they have the best memories possible. Good luck with your decision.
