quick question....has anyone taken the carriage ride around the resort??? is it worth the money???
thanks!

Just got back from our stay at POFQ and we had a blast to say the least! Everyone was so wonderful. DS had so much fun in the pool. I liked the resort because it was smaller and we were in building 2 closest to the Lobby. Took us less than a minute to get to the food court and the pool. But boy was it HOT! Oh my goodness, I am from San Francisco so we are not used that type of heat but we enjoyed ourselves nevertheless.

Concierge was wonderful, they switched some ADRs around for me. We had the dining plan and it worked out good because we did Akershus, Chef Mickeys for breakfast and dinner, Cape May Character breakfast and Clam Bake and 1900 Park Faire. I am so upset because Cinderella was doing the waltz with DS and I recorded it on my phone but deleted it by accident:sad1:

The resort was beautiful, mouskeeping made sure our room was cleaned everyday. It was so welcoming to return midday to the room and relax and go for a swim. The pool was never over crowded and most of the kids played together. The slide was just right, not too big, I had to drag DS away from the slide most of time.

The busses were wonderful as well. We never waited more than 10 minutes. Most of the time there was a bus coming as we sat down on the bench. We had a 7:30am ADR for Chef Mickeys and the bus came before we sat down and the driver dropped us off in front of the CR. Only a couple of times we had to stand leaving EP and MK close to park closing time.

I took lots of pictures and will post them tomorrow when my body catches up to my brain:crazy2:

2 days to go! :goodvibes. I'm starting to pack today!

Does the alarm radio in the room contain a sound spa for background noise while sleeping, or is there a fan sound from the a/c system most of the night?

I'm so excited!

We're flying in late on Wed, Feb 1st. Our plane lands at 11:10pm. By the time we get to our room, it will be way past midnight. Will there be anything open at POFQ that late to get food? Or should we just pick something up at the airport on the way to DME?

Also, do you have a guess as to what time you think we'd get to our room by? We would have to pick up our own luggage. I'm thinking about 12:30-1am.

TIA! :)

thanks!

We took the carriage ride in April 2009 and thoroughly enjoyed it. Very nice relaxing evening and the driver was very informative and entertaining. You have to go to Riverside to board the carriage and you need to make reservations in advance on a credit card. (If you don't show, your credit card will still be charged.) Our driver gave us a choice of just Riverside or Riverside and French Quarter, we chose the latter. It was a very nice way to spend the evening. (One of the things I love the most about POFQ is the sound of the horses passing by in the evening.)

You should count on getting something at the airport - I believe the latest food service offering closes at midnight.

Finally booked our ressies yesterday for March 4-10th with free dining!! :cool1: Talked my mom into POFQ she wanted to stay at a value. My DS and I stayed at POFQ in December and now I never want to stay anywhere else.

I'm so excited only a month till time to make my ADR's.

hey Tink! I'm still figuring out all there is to do at PO...any info you have to share I'd appreciate it! we can't wait to meet up with you guys, getting closer! told Judy we switched last night when I talked to her for a few minutes.

you will LOOOOVE the POFQ!!! everyone has their own opinions, but mine is that its the best resort on property. the smallest, quiet, best bussing (IMO) and you get two sinks in the room where in the other moderates i dont think you do..i could be wrong though. i love the french quarter feel....wouldnt stay anywhere else!!

I agree with everything but the busing. It is great as long as you don't have to share with POR. If you do, Pop has the best busing.

Hi Lisa, I just realized that you are posting on this thread! When does Megan start back to school?

POFQ is our back up resort for February if a nice room discount does not come through for AKL. Since I've been reading this thread I'm getting pretty excited about POFQ.

Thank you so much for the carriage ride idea.
It will be our first time at POFQ and a moderate (yes we are downgraded from deluxe, which is no longer in our budget).
I thought a Riverside and French Quarter carriage ride will allow our family of 4 to learn more about the resort and our way around.

When are the carriage rides available ?
Every evening ?
What times ?
Do I reserve the carriage ride 180 days in advance, like an ADR ?
What happens if it rain the evening we have the carriage ride reserved ?

Sorry if I asked to many questions.
The carriage ride sounds a nice way to spend our first night at POFQ.

OKAY, OMG. Can someone PLEASE post pictures of the newly refurbished king sized rooms?? I've been looking EVERYWHERE and can't find anythingggg):

Me too!!! I just read too that POR is doing the same renovations with rooms and there will be king rooms there too!! Now I'm debating between POR and POFQ

Are there king rooms in all areas of the resort? I guess it doesn't really matter now that I think of it, the resort is small enough-no bad location, right?

Linda

I believe the number is 407-WDW-PLAY. Might be best to check out the website or the perhaps the first post in this thread. Enjoy your trip!
