we just got a free upgrade from pop to a mod resort and picked pofq. i spent the past year reading and researching things on pop and now have a week to find out about pofq lol.

can anyone tell me how long it takes to drive to the parks from here? we plan on using our car rather than the bus.

Free upgrade!?!? Congrats :banana: I can't say an exact time frame for driving, but MK will definitely be your longest drive, and if I recall from our last stay at POFQ, it was between 15-20 minutes depending on traffic.

Personally, I'd have said AK was the longest drive. Then MK, then Studios and Epcot is the closest (just round the corner really).

For Studios and AK, I don't follow the main sign to "Theme Parks". I turn left out of the resort gates as usual, but then go as far as the T-junction and turn right onto Buena Vista Drive. Then follow the signs for Studios or AK. It's shorter, but I guess there are more traffic lights though...

How did you get that?

Hmm...interesting. I went on Mapquest to check since you brought up an interesting point.

POFQ to AK via the shortest route says 5.93 miles/12 minutes

POFQ to MK is more difficult because the only address I can find (3111 world drive) is actually located about 1-2 miles short of the park, but it looks to be a similar distance to AK (actually slightly shorter)

Thanks for pointing that out, Andre!

We are looking into staying here next year. Forgive me- I haven't read the entire thread but I have some questions.
1. Does POFQ have elevators?
2. Which building would you suggest for two adults? We don't mind walking.
3. Have all the rooms been refurbed? We noticed the different bedspreads. I didn't know if it was only for King beds.

Thanks in advance for any additional information you can give us.
We have stayed at POR and CSR before.

We were booked for POFQ for our Sept. trip and our friends are staying at Pop and wanted us to stay there and my mom said she could go but wanted to stay at Pop to save money so we switched. Then she changed her mind and now everything is booked...I was so excited to stay at POFQ. Don't get me wrong, I'm just glad to be going to Disney but for months I've been researching FQ and now I am just sad instead of being excited. Does anyone know if things usually open up? I guess I can just check everyday and keep my fingers crossed.

Robin K-

All the rooms have been refurbished with 2 queen beds per room.

There is an elevator.

Building 5 is a great building. Ask for a corner room, and you will get an extra window.

Just wanted to share a little happy news- We're still on track for our Nov. trip (split stay POFQ/offsite) but I just booked a mother/son trip for next Sept. for 8 nights at POFQ- woohoo!:cool1:

Hello :)

DH and I are seriously considering moving our resort reservation from ASMo to POFQ :) In the morning, I will find out if we will be able to or not :)

I do have a question though: Do all of the rooms (at least the standard/garden view ones) have the new Purple/Gold theme shown on the WDW website or are there still some of the older themed ones, like on the DIS resort info page?

Loads of great info guys! Thanks! A bit scared about the tour groups! We had a few "moments" with them at CSR last year and would rather avoid!! But I'll deal with it!!

6 sleeps!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Don't worry, all of the rooms at POFQ have been refurbished.

I just did some detailed route plotting on satellite images, starting from the main exit from POFQ and following the roads all the way to the toll plaza for each theme park.

I got the following results with Disney's recommended routes:

Epcot: 2.2 miles (3.5 km)
Magic Kingdom: 3.1 miles (5 km)

Hollywood Studios: 4.7 miles (7.6 km)
Animal Kingdom: 5.8 miles (9.4 km)

Or if you go via my route:

Hollywood Studios: 2.1 miles (3.3 km)
Animal Kingdom: 4.7 miles (7.5 km)

Note: although my Studios and AK routes are about a mile shorter than the official ones, there are several extra sets of traffic lights so it may not always be quicker. I do stand by Epcot being by far the quickest park to drive to though, so that gives the distance order as: Epcot, Studios, MK, AK.

For Riverside guests, just add 0.5 mile (0.75 km) to those distances.

andre thanks for that info its a big help especially since i was trying to figure out a time for us to leave animal kingdom to get back to pofq, shower then off to our reservations at dtd at 6pm

For some reason I always seem to get lost coming out of AK! I know WDW property pretty well by now, but somehow I usually end up on the 192 heading towards Kissimmee! I'd call it a scenic route, but it isn't very...

Please tell me about the safes in the POFQ room (closet area I assume).

Can they fit an i-pad ?

How does the combination work ?

Do you have a key to open/close the safe ?

Is there a combination ? Is it pre-set or is it cleared so you can
set you own personal combination for the safe ?

How many digits are there in the comnination ?

If you set your own combination are the numbers 1-9 or 0-9 ?

Thank you to POFQ experts !

Unless they have changed since 2009, they use a key but I'm not sure if they would fit an I-Pad. They might, but it would be a tight fit I think.

still have a key. I don't think the safes were touched in the rehab. I'm pretty sure it will hold an IPad. I put my NookColor in standing up. It's nine inches tall with the holder and the safe is large in width than in height.

I made a separate thread, but I'll ask here as well. Would FQ be a good place to stay with a mobility-impaired guest? And would it be better for that than a value resort, or is there really not much difference? My sister and I are going, and we've stayed at FQ before and had good experiences, so I'm leaning towards that a lot.
