Hey guys, do u know what the pros and cons would be for staying at either of these places? thx =D

I will be staying at Riverside this summer! :D

Riverside Pros:
-Some rooms sleep 5 people (but it's squished..)
-This is an opinion, but I think it's prettier and more visually appealing.
-Has a full-service restaurant
Riverside Cons:
-Bigger than FQ, so longer walk to main pool, food court, etc.

FQ Pros:
-As said above, smaller than Riverside
FQ Cons:
-No full service restaurants, only food court

Both resorts are great! They each have nice pools and a boat that will take you to DTD. You can't go wrong with either, however Riverside is my first pick.

Well, I've stayed at both so...

French Pros:
* - Shorter boat ride to Downtown Disney.
* - A bit "cozier". The buildings are closer together.
* - More interesting theme

French Cons:
* - Not much to eat beyond the food court.
* - A little "sterile"; individual rooms and buildings not very interesting.

Riverside Pros:
* - Gorgeous landscaping, especially in the "au natural"-looking Bayou section.
* - Lots of wildlife, peaceful atmosphere.
* - More places to get food.

Riverside Cons:
* - It's HUGE. If you're in one of the more remote buildings, you are in for a heck of a walk.
* - Magnolia "Mansions" are a little blah. Bayou "Shacks" are a little more rustic than you'd expect...

I've only stayed at port orleans riverside, so i dont really know much about french quarter...but riverside is VERY nice! I loved it! :goodvibes

I like PORS best (: it was nice when we stayed there, and it's bigger. but POFQ is "fancier" I guess. They're both really nice, if you want a bigger hotel area, go with PORS if you don't mind not being as big POFQ is good.

I'm a hard core POFQ fan for a few reasons:

-The smaller size makes it way easier to get around the entire resort (I've stayed in like the farthest possible room from the lobby/food court/bus stop and it was still a totally manageable theme)
-The pool is super cute w/ its theme
-While there is no full service restaurant, the food court is awesome and the decorations in it are fun
-Both Port Orleans resorts share buses and French Quarter is the first one on the route for pick up/drop off, meaning you have a better chance at getting a seat going to parks and don't have to wait as long when coming back.

POFQ:

-smaller
- Mardi Gras theme
- Queen beds
- No TS
- boat to DTD

POR:
- bigger
- more "country" theme
- TS & CS
- double beds
- boat to DTD

So it really comes down to: what do you like?

I've never stayed at either, so I don't know anything about the rooms except their placing, but I've been to both better times.

The French Quarter has a better theme, it's a little more interesting, espeically if you like jazz music. The rooms are close together. However, your dining options are limited, there is really only one food court. It has a Mardi Gras theme, and it's pretty good there. The pool here is big and shady, but the slide is really small.

Riverside's rooms are more spacious, and besides a really, really, cool and big food court with lots of dining options, there's a fancier and nicer restaurant called Boatwright's Dining Hall. Also, the pool is a little better at Riverside; the slide is way longer and more fun and the pool is really nice. There's a little bar next to it. However, the theme here is a little more boring.

Personally, I suggest Riverside for your stay, but in a way it doesn't matter all that much because you can still visit them both no matter where you stay.
(:

Hi guys! My son and I were reading your posts so I hope it's okay for me to talk to you teens but if your parents are giving you a choice pofq has been remodeled so for now is the "better" resort. If your trip is further away than we think Riverside. But remember there is a boat to go from one hoter to the other whenever you want.We hope this helps you pick your hotel for your trip. Have fun, we are headed there in Sept and staying at Riverside (our family is too big now for FQ)

DEFINITELY RIVERSIDE :)
my family has stayed at both and we prefer riverside. For us, we like the theme better and we just like the atmosphere of riverside. The only plus for french quarter is that the boat ride is quicker to downtown disney. However I enjoy the boat rides so I like the longer one :D

definitely French Quarter! It's absolutely beautiful, everything is close together, and they recently refurbed the rooms too!

Both are amazing hotels, and i enjoyed staying at POFQ, but PORS was supa nice too:) PORS is bigger, and its kinda nicer. But POFQ was easier to walk everywhere. You cant go wrong with either one tho.... I loved them both:)

I have stayed at both, but not since i was like 3 or 4. But last year in August, my aunt stayed at French Quarter, and we got to go in her room and ate lunch there. I personally love the French Quarter from what i remember. I've never really been to Riverside. My aunt took the magical express, and she said that depending on what building you have, the walk to the bus stop can be a pain in the neck.

I've stayed at Riverside every time I've gone to Disney. I even used to stay there when it was still called Dixie Landings! Honestly, I LOVE this hotel. I've visited POFQ but I don't like the feel of it. But I have a long list of Pro's for Riverside.
- The Food Court is great. Lots of options and it's a quick and easy meal. The food is delicious.,
-Full-Service Restaurant.
-The rooms are really nice.
-I think the fact that it's big is actually a plus. You get fully immersed and the walk from your room to the main building is always nice.
-Also, I don't believe anyone mentioned Bob Jackson. He's not there every night, but a couple of times a week at night he plays in the lounge of the Main Building of Riverside. He's an AMAZING piano player and he's hilarious. DEFINITELY worth going to see, even if you are tired after a day in the park.

Hope I helped! :)

Me & my family stayed at POR, and we really liked it! It was nice, clean, the food court was very nice and we liked the general hotel theme and area.

The only con for us was we had to walk a little ways to get to the main builing where the food, shopping, and transportation was, but it didn't ruin our stay.

I'd go with POR, but it's up to you!
Enjoy your vacation! :thumbsup2
