Does anyone know if Disney has reopened the Port Orleans FQ yet or if they have plans on reopening the resort? :jester:

Reopening 5/31! I will be on my way home from Miami and decided to detour to Disney to spend the night at FQ. I'll be sure to post my observations! I'm delighted to finally be staying here! :)

I will anxiously be awaiting your report. I'm curious what they did to the food court. Several have said that they revamped it so I'm excited to find out how, etc. Also, am interested in knowing what the conditions of the rooms are...some said they rennovated them while others said they left them as is.... I will look for your report. We will be there in late Nov/early Dec. Last year we ended up at Riverside since it was closed. I'm glad they have decided to reopen it.

They are offering FQ through central reservations now. We are glad it has reopened!

Have spoken with 3 CM's at front desk at Riverside trying to get info on changes at FQ. One stated all buildings had fresh paint and new carpets. 2nd stated only certain buildings but could not tell me which buildings and last said just food court was rehabbed.

I spoke to the food service manager at Riverside to try to determine if the food court format was changed. She assured me the format was the same just it had been rehabbed.

Can anyone confirm or deny any of this? I have ressies in June and would love to be able to request a specific building now but want to try to get a rehabbed one if a rehab was done.

Thanks

I had hoped that they would change the FQ food court to be more like the one at Riverside. If they just redid some of the equipment, then I will be disappointed. Hopefully, they changed the menu a little and also the arrangement, etc. I will be anxious to hear in June after people actually get to stay there.

Not following Disney Resorts for quite a while, is PO FQ what used to be Dixie Landings?

They combined Dixie Landings and PO into one resort called POrleans. But, they separated it out so that the old Dixie Landings is now called PO-Riverside. What used to be the PO is now called PO French Quarter.

When they combined the resorts, though, they moved all the boat/bike rental stuff down to Dixie Landings (Riverside) and closed the sit down restaurant at PO-FQ. So if you want a sit down restaurant you have to walk down to Riverside.

They pretty much left the rest of the stuff as it was when it was simply Port Orleans.

They closed the French Quarter down in November of last year due to low crowds and are reopening it on May 31st.
Hooray!

Checking in May 31 for 6 nights! Wohoo! I've never stayed at POFQ but will be glad to report my observations when I return.
