We are staying a CBR and DH and DS would like to go fishing at Port Orleans. Does anyone know if you are able to go fishing if you are not staying at the Resort?
Has anyone done this and did you have a good time?
Yes...you can go fishing at the fishing hole at POR You can use the recreation at any of the resorts accept for the pools. They will happily accept any and all extra $$ tword recreation such as fishing, boating, surrey bikes...but the pools are off limits unless you are either a guest of the resort or a DVC member pool hopping on a pts stay and rightfully so I suppose. I wouldn't want to pay more $$ per night to be a guest of a resort for someone paying less per night to be able to just come over and crowd the pool I paid extra to stay at the resort and use.
But fishing at POR...absolutely! Haven't done it in years but it was fun even though we didn't catch anything. It's cane pole fishing and they stock the lake with fish. It was alot of fun even though we didn't catch any. Have fun!
last year my kids were booked for the pirate adventure at the gf but we had to cancel due to hurricane... at the time i was unsure if dd was a little on the "old" side for it (she was 9.5yo)... this year she'll be 10.5 and it just does not appeal to her like it did... and i'm hesitant to allow ds to go 'cause they serve pb&j and over the winter we learned of his life-threatening nut allergy...
soooo... i was thinking this would be a cool alternative for them... is 10.5 yo too "old?" i know it says 6-12yo but she's a mature 10yo... is it too babyish or would she enjoy it (she does like fishing)?
Yes. You are able to take advantage of this if you're not staying at POR. We took our kids once while staying at another resort. Although I was the only one to actually catch a fish, we still had a great time.
