We have stayed at the Carribean Beach Resort over the years and it appears they will be doing quite a bit of work during a trip we are planning for September or October. I am considering staying at Port Orleans and I'm looking for some insight from anyone who has stayed there as to desirable room locations for buses, food access to different items. Any info you think may be helpful I would greatly appreciate.

Thanks in advance...

Which resort? Riverside of French Quarter?

I have stayed at all 3 of those resorts and I think you love either Port Orleans resort. Our last trip we stayed at Port Orleans Riverside and it is now my new favorite resort, so beautiful! We were in the Magnolia Bend Mansion section and it was a great. Just a quick walk across the bridge and you were in the lobby / restaurants. French Quarter is also a wonderful resort and it is a small resort where any location would be great.

I agree with Magnolia on the plantation side of Riverside. I stayed there during a split stay and was actually disappointed to have to leave and move over to OKW. There is a bus stop right behind the building, it's a short walk to the main building and pool.

If you are considering POFQ building 4, followed by pool view rooms (they are in either buildings 2 or 5) . We have stayed riverview in 1 & 7 which may be the furthest and didn't find it a long walk.
Are there children in your party? If so the pool slide at POFQ is geared to younger children.Plus they have a new childrens' splash pool area. Staying at either resort you can still use the other's pool .
If you haven't yet take a look at www.portorleans.org for a great overview of both . We have walked up to POR every trip to spend time at their pool, eat at Boatwright's and their CS plus checkout Yeeha Bob in the lounge.
The boat to DS is a big plus for us.

I stayed in building 5 of POFQ and it was great--easy access to the boat launch, pool, buses and main lobby. However, the resort is small enough that it's all pretty convenient.

We stayed at French Quarter on our first trip, and we LOVED it. The resort is so small that no matter where you're at (we were on the far side of the last building), you're still close to everything.

Thank you everyonefor the great info and the website...your help is greatly appreciated.

It's a lovely resort and you can't go wrong, it's just a preference of theming between POFQ and POR. We love CBR and CSR too but you'll find POFQ/POR to be intimate and easy to get around.

Love both resorts but we lean towards POFQ of late. It's just a smaller resort and in our experience less bus issues. At POR we only choose Preferred buildings to be close to main area as we do not enjoy a long trek to get a drink/snack when they have placed us ... what feels like miles and mikes away. We also like the AB section better, so works well for us.
Enjoy wherever you decide. They both are beautiful.

We just got back from POR and absolutely adored it! My 6 yo DD can't stand sleeping in a bed with anyone, and it has a little child sized bed that folds down in the AB section buildings. It was also just a short walk to food and activities.
