Port Orlands vs All-star Music resort

We haven't been to Disney in 7 years. We want a nice place on Disney property. Our AAA travel agent recommended Port Orlands we suggested All-star Music. Any other thoughts are welcome.

We've never stayed at any of the All-Star resorts but we have stayed at Port Orleans Riverside and we LOVED it. Our last non-DVC trip, we stayed in Pop Century. While Pop Century was fine, we found ourselves longing for the laid back atomsphere of PO Riverside. If we stay on property again on an non DVC trip, we'll definitely return to PO Riverside.

Port Orleans is considered a Moderate level resort, while the All Start resorts are Value. Port Orleans is 17x better, in my opinion. However, if you spend all day at the parks and only sleep at the resort, maybe the value is worth it.

There are two Port Orleans resorts - Port Orleans Riverside and Port Orleans French Quarter.

If you suggested All Star Music is that because of the price per night? If so that would be a nice place on Disney property.

Have you looked into Pop Century or Art of Animation?

I will.look into the resorts you were suggesting. A moderate resort is not out of the question.

No comparison. Either Port Orleans resorts are way nicer. Go look at U tube videos people post from their stays.
The landscaping, amenities, rooms, are very nice. It’s very relaxing. All Stars is very utilitarian IMO. No beautiful landscaping, river paths, tiny rooms, and loud.

I would consider the group you are traveling with, and what is appealing to the people in the group. If the group is more interested in manicured grounds, higher end decor, etc., more upscale dining, the moderate wins of course. If you are with young children who would enjoy 60 ft tall Disney characters around the hotel and the likes I would do the value.

Nice place and All Stars... umm, not necessarily words I'd use together. All Stars are fine. They get you on property for the cheapest place. Generally the cheapest of anything. If it's your budget, great. If you specifically want a "nice" place, trust your travel agent (assuming that the TA is a Disney Specialist, not just a full-spectrum TA, not all TAs know Disney well enough).

All stars is a value. PO is a moderate...here are the differences
all stars- you will have a pool, a quick service restaurant, an on site store where you can buy cold drinks, a pool bar...bus service to the parks. Advantage cost. Cheapest place to stay on property.
PO you will have a pool with a themed slide, a hot tub, a pool bar, a quick service restaurant, an on-site store, a sit down restaurant (POR), a lounge with music (some nights) , bus service to all parks, boat to disney springs (when drivers return) advantage amenities...more of a “resort feel”

port Orleans Riverside vs POFQ is a different conversation and plenty of info and opinions on this board...

I think it depends on how you plan to spend your vacation. Are you hitting the parks from open to close? Save the money and stay at All Star. Are you planning on sleeping in a little, coming back earlier from the parks, hitting the pool, or really spending any time at the resort? Then definitely Port Orleans.

I also think the question depends on your group. Kids will love both, and maybe the All Stars more because of all the large colorful sculptures. But adults might find it a little to kiddy. Like others already said, both PO are beautiful and they feel more relaxed and laid back.

We have stayed at All Star Music a few times. We usually stay at a value when we plan to visit more than once a year. We enjoyed our trips and had no issue. The resort was clean and they had some of the friendliest staff we've encountered. I believe the rooms have been recently remodeled and if they are similar to Pop rooms they should be pretty nice. We did a split stay a few years ago and waited longer at MK for a bus to Saratoga than Music. My husband was a little upset that we had better bus service for a value than we did a deluxe. This happened several times during the trip so maybe they had an issue with buses that week!!! Like the above stated PO is beautiful and possibly quieter although we never had a noise issue at music. I would look at your budget and focus on how you plan to spend your time. Is a hot tub important? How much space do you need in your room? What theme appeals to you the most? I don't think you could wrong with either.

I really like the All Star Music. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Even so, if the pool area is important, and if you want a more laid back feeling resort, either of the Port Orleans resorts will give you that. The pools are more themed, have hot tubs and slides.

Moderates are definitely nicer, but I’m ok staying at the value resorts. There is no question Port Orleans (Riverside or French Quarter) is nicer than All Stars though. I’ve stayed at all the above.

I suggest getting a quote for both value and mod and then compare the difference. For a few hundred, I lean toward moderate, but if it's a big difference (our last trip was over $1000 more to stay mod!) it would be value for us!

POFQ is our favorite resort, but we stayed at Pop this summer and really enjoyed it. The main things we missed going mod to value were the room size and bathroom layout. We're a family of 4, so sharing 1 sink was tough (but manageable!). The rooms are smaller, but again, we're 4--if you are a smaller party it really wouldn't be an issue.

If you are considering value, I would recommend Pop Century--it's slightly more expensive than the All Stars (but still cheaper than moderates), but the Skyliner is a great perk. Yes, it can go down when there are storms, but when it is working it makes getting to and from Epcot and HS a breeze.

I would agree that it completely depends on what you want out of your hotel. We go to the parks from open to close. While we have stayed at all levels, for us Port Orleans wasn’t really worth it because we weren’t in our room enough to notice. We would rather, at the time, put the money towards dessert parties and firework cruises.

That’s what I love about Disney; there are options for all touring styles. I do get tired on here though if all the resort snobs acting like the value resorts are dive hotels. While they may not be for everyone, they are great resorts. It all depends on what you want/need out of the resort.

We've stayed at both, and Port Orleans, more comfortable beds, and a little big room, I think. Definitely better pool and quieter.
If the pull to All Stars is price, also consider Dolphin. Amenities better, pool and bed especially ( which matter to us). Also get to walk or quick boat to 2 parks (Epcot/HS, access to Boardwalk and Yacht Club and Disney mini golf nearby to walk to. They have their own busses to MK and AK or can use Boardwalk Inn or YC busses also. They offer discount to AAA, AARP and Marriott members,. You can often find deals on booking.com or h

Music is my favorite All Star (it's the most laid back, standard rooms in the back can be a walk but they are almost always the quietest). I also think it has the prettiest, least in your face, theming of the values.

PO French Quarter is my favorite Moderate. Small footprint so the walks are shorter. Theming is very pretty with a lot of laid back southern charm, very NOLA. Beignets! (if they have them back) and in fact my favorite of the food courts of Values and Mods. Boat to Disney Springs (if they have it back).

So if cost is your main point hit up Music. If atmosphere and convenience is tops go with POFQ.

And I've also stayed at Riverside which I also love the theming of but it's larger and the walks are longer than even Music if you're at the back. So big, that they have to have multiple bus stops.

Also Sports and Movies are fine and enjoyed my stays at both.
Pop is okay, has the new Skyliner, and has the best range of rooms and pricing of the POP/AoA resorts.

AoA was noisy, crowded, the buses suck, only one section of standard rooms and the walk there is as long or longer then Music, and was not relaxing at all. Hate it and will not stay there again probably. YMMV.
