Hi. Planning a trip for Dec. 03, on Wonder. Silly question, but when the Wonder docks at Castaway Cay, which side has better view of island. My past 2 experiences on other cruise lines have been in port side staterooms. Any opinions? Thanks.

starboard, the ship has backed in each time we went

I get the sides mixed up, but we prefer the side with the staterooms numbered with 5s and 6s (e.g. 5650, 5520)...it seems to have the nicest view.

Good way to remember which is Port and Starboard: Port = Left (both four letter words).:)

Try this Inkognito... port has less letters than starboard and left has less letters than right....
That is always as you face the bow (front) of the ship.
True port and starboard fact..
The term posh comes from port and starboard. Experienced travelers on the P and O line sailing to india in the colonial days always specified a Port cabin Out and Starboard Home as that was the side in the shade for most of the trip. The agents abbreviated it as posh.

Thanks! I knew the part about "port = left," but could not remember which way you had to be facing. I'll have to remember that it's facing AWAY from my favorite part of the ship. That would mean my preference is starboard.

Definately Starboard for the Wonder. We were on the 11/3 Wonder and had a port room (7080) and wish we had chosen a room on the starboard side. Don't get me wrong - being on the ship is great, but if you get to choose the side of the ship to be on - choose the starboard side for the Wonder.

I have a thread going about what side is better for the Western Caribbean and really have not gotten a definite answer.

I thought that the port side rooms we had were nice because you get a nice view of the islands as you are heading into port! We stood out on the balcony for quite some time as we headed to Nassau. Awesome photo opportunities! Although, you could go up on deck 9 or 10 and get the same great photos, but not in your jammies!!

I liked port because heading south you get to see the sunrise from your room.

We were in 6590 and had a great view of Castaway. Also got a great sunset leaving Port Canaveral. Postcard picture of me holding my Amstel Light with the sunset in the back. Have a great time.
