Last October my family and I stayed at the WL and we loved it. This year we are trying Port Oleans riverside. Has anyone stayed there and what is it like. How are the buses to and from the hotel to the parks.

We LOVED POR! In fact if we couldn't have gotton our ressies at GF we were going back to POR. It's a very laid back resort, and very much resembles the area where I live in southern LA. The bus stops are on par with the other resorts there is room for improvement.

We love POR. Unfortunately next trip we will be at All Star Movies, but if I could have gotten POR, I would have jumped at it. My goal is to stay at every resort on property.

I just got back on the 29th from a week long stay at POR, and it was great. I found the resort very walk-able, and I have quite little legs. The food court was amazing too. The bus service was terrific, but Hollywood Studios was by far the longest waits to get back from the parks. The grounds in the resort are gorgeous, almost better than almost any other Disney resort imo.

We stayed at POR because we are a family of 5 and this is the least expensive on-site resort for us. We loved the feel of the resort and kept commenting on how it didn't feel like a resort. You can read a full review with pictures here

The buses to/from the parks are the only complaint I've ever heard about POR. The can be slow at times since POR is the end of the line. The buses also made stops POFQ, TL, and BB depending on which park you are going to. We found that going to another resort for dinner was hopeless taking the bus. However, going to DDT is extremely nice on the boat! Don't let the slow bus thing deter you, though. I haven't stayed at any of the deluxe resorts to compare but I'm guessing it's not that much worse.

If they would get rid of the canned bus speech and let the bus drivers entertain us like they used to, the bus trips would probably seem that much shorter, but that's another rant...

Port Orleans Riverside is one of our favorite resorts. The atmosphere is great - very laid back, but there are lots of things to do there. The bus service is fairly good. My one real complaint is that when it's crowded the bus stops can get very chaotic - there are no real lines, and we've missed busses before because people would get there at the last minute and shove their way through the crowd to the bus. Other than that, though, I love POR!

POR is the best of the Moderates. We stayed there many times throughout the years. We can't stay there any more. We joined DVC and it would cost us more to stay there than any of the DVC resorts. On the other hand, we do go over to wonder around and occationally enjoy dinner.

Before we owned DVC, POR was our favorite resort. DS loves the cane pole fishing. The grounds are very romantic when the Crepe Myrtles are all in bloom. Spring for the carriage ride one evening if you have the time.

I love it and I reccomend using google earth,
pics of riverside and you can scroll to see exactly how far everywhere

I totally agree. This is the best of the moderates, and one of my favorite resorts. I love the laid back atmosphere, and it is quiet. The boat rides to DTD are an extra bonus. I have stayed there several times, and lately it has been my choice of resorts.::yes::

POR is a beautiful resort, and the boat service to DTD is quite relaxing. The wife and I think we preferred CBR (we liked the beaches), but POR is nowhere near as spread out.

POR is our favorite moderate resort. It is a big resort so I would request a room closest to the marina and main building area. The grounds are beautiful and there are so many things to do at the resort, you will not get bored. As for the busses, we never had a problem with them. We love the POR so much, we were going to go back there for our March trip but decided to go back to WL. When we first stayed at POR we were like you because we were used to staying at WL and wasn't sure what to expect. We ended up loving the resort because it felt like being at a deluxe without paying for the deluxe prices :cool1: Have fun you will love it there.

Hi Friends! A fellow DISer posted this question on the 2017 MNSSHP thread and I hope you can help:

@margievis

"We are staying at Port Orléans Riverside, preferred section- Any idea when I should be in line for the bus in order to get to Magic Kingdom at that time?"

Thank you so much for your time!

I know but people do visit from time to time! You did!
People read the forums and see recently reactivated threads, not quite the same as visiting a thread. There's an entire forum on the DIS dedicated to Disney Resorts, and another for Transportation. Best responses are frequently generated in topic-specific forums.

That said, 3 PM.

Just realized this was an ages old thread I was answering lol.
