Had to switch our dates and we are now booked on the May 1, 2015 Eastern Caribbean sailing with a stop in Tortola.

We have never been there and we are looking for any thoughts on the port, excursions worth doing or better to stay on the ship? Since we haven't been to Tortola, I would like to check out the island, but am interested in anyone's thoughts. We love our sea days/days on the ship, but we have 3 sea days on this itinerary.

I just got back a week ago from a cruise that stopped there. We did an excursion to the Baths, it was beautiful and we were glad we went. It involves a ferry ride of about 40 minutes, then a short bus ride. We enjoyed all the scenery we saw coming and going. By the time of your cruise the shopping area at the new pier should be finished, it was only about 50% done when we were there.

I didn't go near downtown so I don't know, I do know that they are building a big complex right at the pier for shopping and my guess is by next May it will be full of the usual port shops.

The British VI are beautiful. Don't stay on the ship! I don't think Tortola is a big shopping place. I looked on the DCL website at the excursions and didn't see a trip to the Baths. We've been over there twice. It's a unique beach. I did see a snorkel tour over to the Indians and or the Caves. Both cool sites. There is a trip over to Jost van Dyke. Fun beach with the "Soggy Dollar" Bar.

From the look of the excursions listed so far, it seems that the big thing there is the beaches. I am thinking there might be more excursions listed as it closer to the sail date.
