Has anyone made the road trip from WDW to the Port of Miami? It will be our first time in that part of Florida.

I have run off driving directions on Mapquest (via the Turnpike) but was wondering if anyone had any tips that might make the final bit of the journey a little bit easier to navigate.

Driving the Turnpike is no problem but making all those off ramp/junction turns for the last few miles is beginning to freak me out :scared1:

Yes, we've done it a few times. Will you be driving to the port and parking the car there, or dropping a hire car at the airport before making your way to the port?

Hi Debbie

Our plans are to park at the port. I gather it is $20 a day but thought this would be the best option as it is only a 4 day cruise.

Mapquest estimates 3h 45m from OKW. Does this sound about right to you?

Yes, that's pretty much spot on - I think the quickest we've done it is around 3.5 hours. As you suspect, the Turnpike section of the journey is straight forward. It's the last bit of the journey as you hit Miami and the traffic which takes the time, although we find getting in is not as tortuous as getting out. I recommend following your route on Google maps (at street level) so that you can picture it. I always find that helpful when I'm driving somewhere for the first time. It's not actually that complicated - you just need to keep your wits about you. :)

Debbie

I hadn't even thought about using Google Maps. Now that I have had a look at the Street View/Photos of the junctions I feel a good deal better about the journey.

Thanks for your help.
