Sorry for the weird question, I've never used a port o potty. Is there a light once you shut the door? A sink? I've heard of them running out of paper. I've avoided them at other races but with the 1/2 coming up and being more nervous than before, this may be the first.

I used them at the Minnie back in May and I don't remember a light - so I'm not sure if there's a sink. I don't think so but there was a container of hand sanitizer gel inside.

Being a vet of many races - Disney included - I can tell you there are never sinks or lights in the pots, just TP. But, when you gotta go you gotta go.

Nope, no lights or sink. There iwll be a hand wash station outsaide or a sanitzer dispenser inside. I never ran out of TP at WDW.

Some of the portables have hand sanitizer inside. At Disney there were stations set on the ends of the potty rows. Nope no lights. Don't worry, you won't have a problem without lights. Kind of better that way actually. If you are concerned and carry a waistpack, you can byo paper and hand wipes.

;)

Since we're on the subject, I have a serious question. How come females can't use a port-o-let without peeing all over the seat? At the Philadelphia Marathon, I had to wipe the seat off from the previous female occupant. Was she hovering too high?

First of all.....no running water in sight. It's good, 'cuz you don't want to look around at ALL! You are lucky if there is TP.....always have some kleenex with me! And Chester......anybody who sits on the seat is a fool!

I definitely carry my own TP - I've had several instances, even in Disney, where there wasn't any in the john! I prefer to wait until a flushing toilet is available if at all possible, but sometimes that plan just doesn't work.

Suzanne...you can always use the bathrooms in the parks during the race. Should the need arise outside the park, try not to go into a portopotty that's on a slant. It's very disconcerting to be in one of those dark and smelly things feeling like you're riding backward down the stairs at HM. ;)

Thanks everyone!!! I have decided that if I need to go, I will wait until inside the MK and go then. At the Minnie, I saw a lady run into the bushes to go, I wondered why with port o pottys in sight, now I know why!!!

I take hand wipes, kleenex and toilet seat covers in a baggie. I toss it right before the race starts. I don't wanna be out of toilet paper and at the RFTT they ran out of soap at the hand washing stations. If I'm going in a porta potty I'm making sure my hands get cleaned afterward! Bring some hand wipes!

I have had to use the PoP at Disney before the race and never have run out of TP, they had hand sanitizer inside. No lights. You just go in, locate the hole very quickly, hover and do your business and out you go. You try to go as fast as possible. Earlier on is better, the smell isn't so bad. I do carry a small travel size of kleenex and had to use them at the A1A Fort Lauderdale Half when the PoP had no TP. It came in very handy!!
The bathrooms inside the park are OPEN, if you ned help finding the closest one - just ask a cast member!! I used the one on main street near the Noodle Station and had the whole thing to myself!!

Suzanne,

You will be highly amused at all the people out in the bushes at the start lines of both races.

Lots of porta-potties at the bag drop area, and there are more out by the start line. However, when nature calls, runners (female and male) head for the bushes.

After all, it is the Happiest Place on Earth when you gotta go, you gotta go. LOL.:lmao:
