Last year we stayed at the Holiday Inn Oceanfront, which was very adequate for our purposes, especially at a AAA rate of $66. This year I have enough Hilton Honors points for a free night. Which would you choose, the Doubletree Guest Suites, or the Hampton Inn?

I tried comparing them by their websites, but the only differences I could see were that Doubletree has nicer beds, and Hampton Inn has free breakfast.

It would be great to hear your opinions of these two hotels, in terms of location, amenities, space, etc. If you've stayed at both, even better. Thanks for your help.

I haven't stayed recently in either of these in Florida but I have frequented the Hampton Inn in a couple different states and they were all supposed to be refurbished, nationally, new beds, including new bedding, carpets, fridge in the rooms, etc. Call the one in FL and asked if they have updated recently. I know the one I recently stayed in in Illinois was totally redone from 7 months from my previous stay there. Worth a call.

We stayed at the Doubletree recently and LOVED it! We unfortunately got there too late to really use much of it, but walked around and checked out all the grounds. The beach is great and was not at all crowded, and the pools are lovely! The rooms were nice, the chocolate chip cookie at check-in is ALWAYS a bonus ;) .... I can't compare, but if you end up staying there I think you'll really like it! :thumbsup2

What kind of rate did you get for the Doubletree? The best I have found was$201, which seems high. Also did you use the shuttle to the port? How was it? On time? crowded? Thanks

We stayed at the Hampton, and have the same reservation for Feb 07.

The Hampton was nice because we got the kids something to eat in the morning included before we returned the rental car (Ive used both Budget and Avis) and took that shuttle to the port by 10ish in the AM.

The price for our room would be about $110.

As this year, we used points for our upcoming stay and it is free!

I got it on priceline for about $90. I don't believe the Doubletree has a shuttle the the port, but I could be wrong :goodvibes We had rented a car, and took the car rental shuttle.

Oh! I have never tried priceline. Is that the one that you don't know until you book which hotel it is? Is there some way to kind of know it would be an ok place? We are just staying for 1 night pre cruise so it might be worth the risk! We will have a rental car too I think.

Thanks for your responses. I just checked the Hilton website, and they raised the points stay for these hotels. It is now the same as the Hilton Oceanfront. Has anyone stayed here?

Is there a rental car return site at one of these locations? Or did you guys just stay here, then take the rental car to its return site somewhere and take their cruise shuttle from there?

Thanks!
