Porgs on board

During our cruise last week, which was a star wars at sea cruise on the Fantasy.............I kept noticing these Porgs on peoples shoulders walking around the boat. I took a quick peek in the gift shop and didnt see any of them for sale. A day or two went buy and I didnt think much more about them but then I heard an announcement that the only way to get them was to go to the DVC presentation while on board.

So if you are in the market for a free Porg....................that is where you need to go to get them while on the ship.

I will be very annoyed if thats all thats given out for sitting through a DVC presentation. I got my shoulder Porg at my local Disney store a few months ago and I was planning on bringing him on the cruise. His name is Tom Tom, named after my grandpa Tom. My Grandpa Tom lived on the mainland near Skellig Michael island, which is the real life name of the planet Achtoo. When I was a child my grandpa Tom brought me to the beach and pointed out Skellig Michael in the distance.

It was a painless 40 minutes....free Porg, bottled water (I do remember years ago they would give you a drink). If you purchased you received varying amounts of Onboard Credit.

Couldn't say if the Porg is going to be an ongoing thing or just for the Star Wars cruises....there was no alcohol served at the presentation...again haven't been to one in six years and that one had alcohol. This one did not.

thank you, my cruise is not a Star Wars cruise, so hopefully no Porgs :)

I love ewoks and porgs and The Child. All cuteness is good! And, I would love to receive a Porg from going to a DVC presentation, but we don’t have a Star Wars cruise booked!
I don't normally like cute with my Star Wars. The ewoks are ok but when my high school friends liked Return of the Jedi only because of the ewoks that turned me off of them, lol! (And my kids are literally right this second watching Return of the Jedi and saying "Mom, how can you not love the ewoks? :rotfl2: ) Porgs are pretty inconsequential to me but I felt like they were overly marketed because of their perceived cuteness....and I wasn't sad when I saw Chewie roasting one on a stick! 🤣 But Baby Yoda has stolen my cold heart. All the awesomeness of Yoda wrapped up in a cute little bundle - I could look at him all day long!

I was thinking that if you just went to the sales pitch they were giving about a $50 credit per stateroom. At least that is what Adam Hattan said the other day. If so, the porg vs. the credit is a better deal for Disney.

in all the years I’ve gone to these presentations, they have never just automatically given state room credit. It’s always been some sort of a gift. Now, they do have a raffle where one of the people at the sales pitch wins stateroom credit, but not everyone. The gifts have usually been some sort of DVC logo items or trading pins.

Hmmmm. I will watch Adam's video again to make sure I heard what I thought I did. I know we wouldn't have been eligible for such as we have already owned DVC once, but I was thinking my daughter and her boyfriend may could have gotten a free 50. I will go over that video once more though.

I have not heard of this person before, but was able to find him on YouTube. I think you’ll find that they say they are filling out their forms for the chance to win. I do believe that you get a guaranteed stateroom credit if you do one of the face-to-face meetings. But not at the general information session. If DVC actually gave everybody $50 state room credit, their general presentations would be much more full.

On the cruise we were on, they gave a $25 OBC per stateroom for the presentation. If you booked an appointment with them, you could get an additional $25 OBC per adult, up to $50. And if you actually booked, you got a larger OBC, based on the number of points purchased. We settled for the $25.

Wow. The benefits offered at the DVC presentations have scaled-back so much in the past few years that I’m really surprised to hear this. Used to be that you got a really nice folder with notepad, DVC themed gifts, and alcoholic beverages. The last three times have been a bottle of water and a pin. I used to just go because I could use the pin for trading. But if it’s actually $25, that’s definitely more incentive to go.

This is even better news!!! We would go just to relax and get nothing. Now to get $25!!! Yes please! Can I go to all of them and make some good money?? Lol. Probably not.

It looks like tons of "The Child" toy merchandise being shown at the New York Toy Fair....I follow Chip and Co and they are posting tons of cool looking stuff to become available.
