I had penciled in US/IOA in my notebook, but I decided not to spend the extra money this trip going over there. So we went to Kona Café for Breakfast! At the bus stop by 8:20, went to MK, then Monorail to Poly. I did make a PS for this when we checked in. It was for 9am. We were 10 mins late but there was no wait. I had the Tonga Toast that I had heard so much about on the boards. I didnt really care for it, but DS loved it! I like the potatoes best. This is where one of the biggest bummers of my trip happened, MY BEAUTIFUL ZOOM CAMERA BROKE!!! I bought it in 2001 just for trips to Disney, with zoom and everything. It wasnt digital though. But still, my camera broke. Remember, I bought a new case for it the day we got there too? I was almost in tears. Well, I wasted 2 rolls of film trying to fix it and couldnt. The camera store that used to be on Main Street isnt there anymore and Guest Relations tells me that they dont have camera repair on-site anymore. So, I use disposable cameras for the rest of the trip, at roughly $18.00 a pop! I used the digital ones with the free CD developing too. After Kona we take the monorail to GF, then bus to AK. DS wanted to walk around GF for a while first, thats why we went there before we went to AK. It did take us forever to actually get to AK, about an hour by that route. The bus stop at GF was really nice and pretty, but the AK bus took about 30 minutes to get there! At AK we went on Primeval whirl twice, about a 10 min wait. There was young woman there in a wheel chair with her mom needing assistance to get into the car with us and the CMs there would not/could not physically touch her to put her in the car so she could ride. The girl had to be lifted and put in the car from her chair and I guess they are not allowed to do that. They can assist, but not lift; which I can see why. But, I did feel really bad for the girl. Her mom was going to take one side of her and the CM the other, but he was still not allowed to. He offered to get his manager to help or explain, Im not sure what he/she would do; but the young girl said, nevermind, its ok. I wonder if she ran into this before? I would have offered to help, but what if I dropped her! That would have been horrible! So, she didnt ride. =(
After that we didnt really want to do anything else. Well, we wanted to ride Dino, but it was closed. So we walked over to the new walkway by Everest and took so pictures of the coaster going up over there. DS thought it was pretty cool. I checked out the bathroom. Lolol If theres a bathroom; I stop; even if I dont have to go. My DS thinks Im nuts. Nice bathroom though. Neither one of us felt like getting wet on Kali. I dont know why, but we were kinda bored over at AK so we went back to FQ to hang out in the sun and swim. Something we have never done in our 5 trips, go back to the resort mid-day for a swim! I think I like coming back and swimming. We hung out at the pool for about an hour or two then caught the bus to MK. Buses were slow to MK. I also have to say that I really disliked going to Riversides 4 bus stops after picking us up. Sometimes it took 45 mins just to get to MK!! They need their own buses!! Im sure that they would like that too. At MK we finally saw COP! I hadnt seen that since our first trip in 98. It was pretty neat. DS liked it. We than went to Caseys and split a chilidog. Its something new they are trying out, per the CM there. They are offering chili on the side in little cups to see how many people want it. But the problem is they only have it noticed on a little 5x8 card in front of the register, not the sign with the food listed. I told the CM Manager that I would have never noticed that little sign, I only asked about chili because its what I wanted. Well, I lucked out, Caseys dogs and chili! Yummy! Off to Splash, which was down for the first time ever that I had been there. There was no water running down the big drop. It was weird. Since it was down it was creating a HUGE bottleneck at the stairs over in the entranceway between Splash & BTMR. We couldnt wait to get out of there and that crush of people. We headed back to FQ since MK was too crowded for us. We changed clothes and headed over to Riverside with our mugs and some Goldfish crackers for the ducks on the walk over. Very nice walk and ducks love Goldfish crackers. (We found out later that bunnies like Goldfish crackers too). We ate at the food court at RS. Boy, do they have some awesome Philly Cheese steak sandwiches! I had a side of mashed potatoes with some gravy as well. Now, this gravy had pieces of carrots in it and a flavor I/we cannot identify. But, it was delicious!!! I asked the CM if she knew what was in it and she didnt so she offered to ask the cook. When she came back, she asked for my address to send me the recipe. When she asked the cook what was in the gravy, I guess he/she just offered to send me the recipe. I didnt actually want to cook it, I just wanted to know whats creating that flavor. I never did find out what that taste was and the recipe hasnt come in the mail yet. So I still dont know what the wonderful flavor is. Its not sausage, which is the base for some gravy. I just cant identify it. FQ had the same gravy, but they didnt know either. DS had a double-cheese burger. He thinks that the food courts have the best DCB, next to LeCellier of course! We walked around for a bit, checking out stuff. Nice store. We both purchased t-shirts here, a Tink for me and a Disney World Classic for DS. After shopping we went to the DVC Booth. This is where I think my Disney life changed; we spoke to Jeremy who worked for DVS. He convinced me (and DS) to set up an appointment to tour the SSR on Sunday. (Ill detail that on Sundays report.) We walked back to FQ by about 9:30pm, hung out and rested.
