Friends of our wife and I want to come with us on a trip that we have planned. It is already going to be 3 adults in the room, but if the others come it would be 4 adults and 1 child. Am I wrong in thinking that it would be horribly crowded in the room? Thanks in advance.

It will be very crowded. Whether or not this equates to "horribly" depends on the relationships between the people and the size of the child.

Many have said that the trundle bed is only big enough for a small child.

I have stayed in rooms smaller than POR with 4 adults and had it be fine. I have also stayed in rooms that size with 2 adults and had the space seem tight.

I think POR rooms are about 312 sq ft (someone correct me if needed). See if there's a room in your house that is similar to this. Then, ask the question of whether you could all get along in that much space.

IMHO it would be very tight with 4 adults and 1 child. The beds at POR are only double beds not queen, dh and I have found them "cozy". We are 2 adults and 3 kids (5, 6 and 9yrs) so it was doable. Unless it is for a fairly short stay I don't think I'd squeeze 4 adults and a child into POR.

I think it also depends on how well you get along with the other couple. ;)

if you're used to double beds, then it's fine, but if you're used to king, then it's a little crowded - and timing is also a concern - one bath may be tough - but on the other hand - we're five - four adults and a child and had no problem because two took showers at night - and two took showers in the morning - and the baby was always in the water either morning or evening - this time we're thinking of taking an air mattress for extra sleeping space - but that's because we've now gotten used to a king size bed -
