POR vs. WL

I am having a really hard time deciding if WL is worth $600 more than POR for the 6 nights 7 day trip. Here are the details check in 2/26 out 3/3. It will be me (25 and 26 weeks pregnant when we get there), DH 27, and DS 2. We don't have any meals booked at WL so that's not really a factor. We will have our own car. Also, if we book at POR I will definitely book a preferred room and request building 14. If those requests are met that would give us queen beds.

What are the major benefits of each resort? What are the biggest differences etc?

I've never stayed at POR but I have stayed at WL several times. WL Pros:
- boat ride to MK
- Small resort (by Disney standards) After a hectic day at the parks I need a bit of peace and quiet and time to decompress. WL fits the bill.
- boat ride to CR to access the monorail and other resorts if you have dinner reservations somewhere else.
-All rooms have a balcony. That becomes prime real estate for DH and I at nap time.

Good luck with your decision.

Another plus for the Wilderness Lodge is that all their rooms, stores, restaurants and etc are located in one main building. At Port Orleans Riverside you won't know which building you are staying at until you check-in and how far it's from their stores and restaurants.

I've never stayed at WL but I've visited and I've always been quite drawn to the resort. I like to think of POR as a mini-WL, due to its rustic nature and lush surroundings.

To be honest, I'd save the money and go with POR. Gorgeous boat ride to DTD, easy bus transportation to any park, beautiful surroundings, fantastic pool, nice walk to POFQ, carriage rides available, YeeHaw Bob in the lounge, mansions on one side, lush landscaping on the other...

Ultimately, it's your choice. Personally, even if it were the same price, I'd probably stick with POR. I like the outdoor corridors, I like the serenity and the feeling of peacefulness, and I truly love the resort itself. Honestly though, WL is gorgeous and whatever decision you make, you'll have a beautiful vacation. :)

If you had to rely on Disney transportation, I would say do WL. But since you have your own car, I say save the money and do POR. The biggest perk of WL is the quick access and boat to MK as well as CR and the monorail. When you take that out of the equation since you'll be using your own car, I don't think there's enough to justify the added cost of WL, IMO.

We have stayed at POR on our last two trips and plan to stay at WL on the next one. We are just two adults and plan to go at a much slower pace on our next trip - sleeping in, ordering room service, sitting on the balcony. We also plan to do DxDP so it will be nice to have all those resorts close by for dining options. We will miss the food court at POR because we think it's much better than the one at WL, and we also will miss all the quiet pools at POR - we aren't fans of the main pool at WL and then there's only one quiet pool at WL.

I haven't stayed at WL but our family of 5 has stayed at POR for our last 5 trips. I love that resort. We say we're going to try a new resort but always end up at POR. It is beautiful, has a great pool, and the food court is great.

I vote POR. We did a split stay between both and wondered why we spent so much more on WL.

Love POR!!
