Help me pick, POR vs. POFQ. We are planning Oct. 2014. And the kids will be 9 and 6 at that time. Which would you choose and why? Thank you for your help!

We always pick POFQ because of the size and how quiet it is. Everything is close. Building 7 is the quietest building on site, is actrually still close to everything POFQ and also is close to the pool at Riverside. Best of both worlds as you can swim at either one.

Although we enjoyed POR, we prefer POFQ. It is smaller. In my experiences, when the two resorts shared a bus to one of the parks, POFQ was first pick up/drop off.

Both are beautiful resorts. In face, when we stayed at POR we often got off the bus a POFQ and enjoyed walking along the river back to POR. We were in a Royal Room which are in buildings closest to POFQ.

I know it could be just my experience, but I found that POFQ seemed quieter (not that POR was loud).

My DS and my nieces and nephews enjoyed the theme at the pool at POFQ too.

We have a DS7 and he has been there several times.

We like POFQ because of the size. It's small thus easier. Less lines and crowds. Plus we love the theme. Sitting at the playground a night watching our son play while the jazz music is on in the background is a fond memory. Get a drink and call it perfect.

We loved staying here, it was amazing! First picked up, first dropped off from bus, necklace welcomes, wonderful music, the magic follows you from the park home.

We have stayed POFQ and will try POR in Sept.
We wanted to try the royal rooms, loved the grounds and my kids liked the slide at POR better. ( longer, ages 8,6).

But I already know we will miss the convience and smallness of FQ.

POR has a larger QS and gift shop. Theming is different.

For us it may be a toss up after we try both.

I can only say, FQ is definately more convient with getting from a to b and the buses. You are also lucky that in Oct it cools down a bit where walking the 10 minutes between POR and FQ will be enjoyable ( for us too hot ). You can share pools either walk along the river or take the boat

I have never been to either so take my opinion with a grain of salt!

I first booked POFQ. The small size REALLY appealed to me after staying at Pop Century (standard room) last year. But after a lot of reading and watching videos on YouTube of both pools, I really felt like my son would enjoy the pool at POR better. The slide at POR is much more suited for the age of my son (9). I know you can use both pools, but since I know he'd rather swim at POR, it wouldn't make much sense for us to book the smaller resort and then hike to the other resort's pool every day!

My only MUST DO when I booked POR was book a Preferred room. So I'm hoping the resort won't feel as huge to us as it is. :)

We have stayed at POR twice and visited POFQ several times. I much prefer POR because POFQ just seems too cramped and close together to me. I know that's contrary to the opinions of many others, but I love the space and laid-back feel at POR and don't think the overall size is a problem at all. Can't comment on the buses as we used a rental car both times we stayed at POR.

We've stayed at both and I have to say that POFQ wins for us. We enjoy the smaller resort and that it's easier to get to everything because it is smaller.
My DH also really loves southern food and it seemed POFQ has more of that then POR.

Though, to be fair POR is a beautiful resort and the Royal Rooms are superb! We didn't like walking so much at POR, but once we got into our room (royal), it was all worth it :)

I personally dont feel that the smallness of POFQ is a plus. There are fewer amenities available. First, I dont like the theme at POFQ. I hate how small the food court is. I dont like the fact that there's no quiet pool. I just dont care for this resort at all.

POR has a much better food court, more options. Love their make-your-own pasta station! And the salad is great too! I love that they have yehaw bob onsite. I love the bike rentals onsite. So fun and pretty cheap! The pool seems bigger at POFQ, but the slide is much shorter there. The slide at POR is much longer.

Overall the theme of POR is absolutely stunning. So gorgeous. I love the mansions. :cloud9: I stayed in Arcadin and loved the proximity to the pool & main building. I personally dont find POR too big at all. Its a beautiful resort.

We prefer POR to POFQ as well. I just didn't care for the theming or landscape at POFQ. In fact, walking over from POR made it seem like POFQ really wasn't as small as everyone thinks (YMMV).

We far preferred the landscape, the amenities etc at POR. We stayed in a royal room so the resort didn't "feel" that large to us at all (But we never once ventured over to the AB side of the resort).

Check out http://www.portorleans.org/ There are tons of pics, maps etc of both and decide what works out best for your family :goodvibes

Having stayed at both more than once, POFQ is our favorite for the atmosphere and setting. It is a smaller resort so it never seems too busy. I also like this food court better.

We also love POR as well. We are heading there in August to stay in a Royal room. They have a sit down restaurant and the pool is a little better than at FQ. The grounds are more spread out and you can go fishing, they have hair wraps for the girls, horse and carriage rides and the marina.

It's really personal choice as both are great resorts. POFQ wins for us mainly due to the Marti Gras feel and the atmosphere.

POR is themed more toward rural Louisiana with the mansion houses and the AB is meant to represent the bayous of southern La. If NOLA is more your speed, then POFQ would be more to your liking. Agree with PP who mentioned that to them POFQ doesn't seem as small. It is roughly half the size of POR but it seems more spread out than it is while POR seems more compact than it is. At least to us. Agree that the pool is better at POR and there are quiet pools for those that prefer that. POR is what we prefer, but POFQ is just a bit below in our estimation.

I have stayed at Port Orleans Riverside (formerly Dixie Landings) many times. I have not stayed at POFQ, but have visited it twice when pool-hopping from POR to POFQ. I prefer POR due to its beautiful grounds, lush vegetation, and general prettiness.

Stayed at POR twice ask for a room near the front of the resort can sleep 5 in soon rooms, and the boat to Downtown Disney is great. It is by far the best bang for the buck
