Why do you pick one over the other?

I've never been to either of these resorts, both look nice and they both get good reviews. So I'm wondering what makes you choose one over the other.

How would you compare the pool areas for children (ours are 6 and 9 years old)?

Thanks!

I have stayed at both and prefer POFQ. All of this has been said on other posts, but the layout is more compact and you are the first bus stop on the way to the parks.

I Like the atmosphere of POR better, but it is more than offest by the convenience of POFQ. There were some nights when I arrived back to POR where I felt like I was walking in circles to figure out how to get back to my room.

I have stayed at both of these resorts and loved them both and I am glad that you get to enjoy them both while staying at the other. That being said I prefer the POFQ just because of its smaller size, theming and first bus pick up.

My two kids were bored at the FQ pool. They both liked the POR pool much better. DD was 9 and DS was 7 at the time.

My boys loved the pool slide at POR. It is much "zippier" than the one at POFQ. DD4 would not try it. The one at POFQ is very visually appealing, but not as fast and doesn't twist as much. If a slide is important to your boys and they are brave when it comes to the water, I would say POR for sure. If you think they are more unsure of themselves, then I would stick to POFQ. I do think both pool areas are very attractive though.

We haven't stayed at both, but we have stayed at POR and loved it. We loved the southern antebellum feel that it had. We used to live 4 hrs from New Orleans and went their fairly often so POFQ didn't even compare to the real thing and that's why we chose POR.

That being said, it's all a personal choice. I've heard people that give reasons as to why they like one over the other, etc. Not sure if we'll ever stay at POFQ since there are a lot of different resorts we want to try.

Thanks everyone for your opinions on the pools at both resorts. The pool is definately important to us. It sounds like the POR pool is better suited for the kids.

I was hoping the scales would tip in favor of POFQ just because the resort looks so pretty, based on pictures that I have seen.

If you stay at POFQ you are allowed to go over to POR and use their pool (and vice versa).

You can take either the boat down to Riverside or you can walk - I think it is about a 10 minute walk.

We made the choice to stay at POR again because it does have a table service restaurant as well as the counter service section. We also like to idea of quiet pools and there are two at POR one near the mansion that we would like to stay in. :flower3:

The main reason we chose POR is because we stayed at Dixie Landings on our honeymoon almost 10 yrs ago, and loved it.. so want to stay there again, :)

HAVE A FABULOUS TIME!

My pick is POR too, and actually not sure when you're going so check on pool rehabs.
POFQ has one while POR has quiet pools and the main pool, which has a wonderful slide and spraying water and kids just LOVE it!

Right now the pool at POFQ is under rehab and will be until mid March. One thing that tips the scale in POFQ is that it has its own bus stop at MK in the evening. Remember this is your tip too. The hot tub at POFQ is very secluded, it's on the other side of the bar, which means kids generally don't hop into it.
