I'm narrowing it down to these two places. This will be my families 1st trip and we are staying on site because I've wanted to since I was 5. I'm not sure which would be the best fit for us. A little backround. My kids will be 8 and 5 by the time we go. We do go camping we have a seasonal spot at a place near us..but no way to transport our RV. So I thought the cabins would be cool. Was planning on getting a golf cart but am worried about the buses. Can you park the golf cart at the bus stops?Dh said he thought the cabins might be a good fit on another trip since I can tell there is a ton to do at the campground alone. My kids have never been to the parks so I think we will spend more time there. Which brings me to POR.. still rustic looking(Alligator Bayou) and I think you can use the pools at both POR and POFQ(I've heard the pool at Ft Wilderness is nothing to write home about)My question here is can we get a room in Alligator Bayou since we are a family of 4 not 5? I saw a pic of the trundle and I thought I heard you needed to be a family of 5 to get those. Pros and Cons please. I'm driving dh crazy and he told me last night "just pick somewhere already"..LOL TIA

My preference would be Fort Wilderness, especially if you plan on renting a golf cart. There is golf cart parking all over the campground.

I vote for POR:) I have stayed at both and POR was way more fun !! Everything is alot more convenient, buses, food etc..,the pools are better as well as the Disney feeling you get:wizard: . We have stayed at Alligator Bayou twice and are a party of 2. You just need to request it when booking

I would vote for POR... I have stayed there as well as camped at the Fort (not the cabins though).

We really enjoyed camping, but you are right that there is a lot to do other than the parks at FW (when we camped, we did not do any parks). If you are going to be spending most of your time at the parks, I would do POR.

Also, your kids seem to be the ages where you all are pretty much going to be sleeping at the same time, so having the extra room isn't as much of an issue as it would be with little ones.

If you do go to FW, I would get a cart. You can park easily everywhere. But do call and reserve one well in advance, I think they sell out quite often. They are about $50/day so add that to your budget.

I think food options are more limited at FW, so that might be something to think about as well. Definitely better pool at POR. You can use the POFQ pool as well, it is fun, and another slide!

You can request Alligator Bayou with only four. We did and got it.

Have fun!!!

I vote for FW for your family.

I don't know anything about the pool there, but there are a ton of kids activities to take part in-smores campfire, there are stables with all of the parade horses (& pony & horseback rides), lots of boating activities, Hoop De Doo Revue, watch the Electric Water Parade, take a boat to Wilderness Lodge.

Have a great time whichever you choose!
