I am taking DW on a suprise anniversary trip in May. I have a room booked at POR, but I can get the Dolphin for $200 more. We have stayed at POR before and loved it,we have stayed at the BC so I love the area, but never stayed at the Dolphin before. Should I switch resorts? and why?

We did not think POR was anything special and actually switched to a different resort after the first day. I don't know much about the Dolphin but I've heard the rooms are very nice, the pool is awesome, and it is great location-wise: not far from Epcot or DHS. The downside is that it shares a bus with several other resorts so the rides to MK and AK take awhile.
Some people love POR but again they have slow busses as well, in our experience.
What exactly are you looking for in a resort?

Well you can see in my sig. We have stayed at a few resorts, This is just going to be a quick 3 day celebration and I kinda wanted something different without breaking the bank.

We were just at the Swan, and it was beautiful-- recently redone. The Dolphin has redone their lobby, so I assume the rooms were done as well. If you can afford it, I say go for it. The beds really are heavenly and the king corner suites are great if you can snag one. There is also a great Aveda Spa if you have the time and $$$.

HI!

We stayed at the Dolphin in 2002 and loved it! #1--Location!!!-- It is great having the Espn zone and all the little shops on the Boardwalk. As well as being able to walk to Epcot or take a short boat ride to Epcot or MGM. Also, you can see the Epcot fireworks from this area, which is nice to watch before turning in for the night. #2--The pool-- We loved it. #3--It seemed a bit more adult than when we stayed at the "official" Disney resorts,, sometimes it is nice to get away from Mickey:guilty: #4--We love Gulliver's seafood buffet at the Swan--MUCH better quality than the "official" Disney buffets. #5--Nurse/teacher discount--we got a great discount.

I must add that we have never stayed at a Moderate resort so I can't comment on them. However, we did stay at Wilderness Lodge once and felt very isolated.

Hope you have a great time, you can't go wrong with Disney:thumbsup2

We've stayed at both resorts a few times and love them both. For an anniversary celebration, I would definitely choose the Dolphin. Here's why:

1. The lobby/entrance are more luxurious & romantic
2. The rooms & beds are larger
3. You can go for a romantic stroll along the boardwalk
4. Easy access to both Epcot & Hollywood Studios

And last but definitely not least:

5. There are a lot less kids running around :thumbsup2

Whichever one you choose, enjoy!

Meeky Mouse,

Eight trips to Disney during YOMD, and you say no dreams received?? :confused3

How about being able to go to disney 8 times, lol??

And, yes, fewer kids= much more romantic!!
