We have stayed 1 evening at POR and loved the resort. But we don't know if we should venture out and see something new or go with what we know we like.

What is the differences? We like the mature landscaping of POR and the pool. We didn't have a problem with the bus system and it was just nice.

I don't think we have even seen CSR but the pool looks nice.

CSR is a little more upscale - has a beauty salon, a gym, more upscale (more expensive) food court.

I like the theming better at POR. I am not a huge fan of the Soutwestern theme of CSR. But, the busses at CSR are typically less crowded, as many of the guests are going to conventions, not the parks. Plus, the pool area is nicely themed. But I do prefer all of the trees and green stuff that you get at POR. It is much more relaxing to me.:)

I like them both about the same. CSR does have the salon, spa and room service so if those are things you will use that would be a big plus.

To me it really comes down to theming. If you think the southwest theming of CSR is nice than you will enjoy that. Some people prefer the more lush landscaping of POR or CBR. CSR has a nice big lake and beach areas with hammocks for relaxing. POR has the river and boat to DTD. Again, it depends on what you enjoy doing and what appeals to you. I would go to allearsnet.com and check out the slideshows on CSR. Buzz a disboard member has webiste with all sorts of gorgeous photos of his favorite resort. Its pretty easy to find that link, and in fact he'll probably post on this thread at some point and his link is on the bottom of his signature!

I don't think you can make a bad choice! CSR's pool is awesome but I love POR's pool too. POR's pool is right near its food court, whereas CSR's is separate from the food court. It does have a pool bar with food selections however so you can have lunch or dinner at the pool. Its not as big of a menu as a foodcourt however.

I have heard reports that at night sometimes CSR can get more of an adult feel. We have friends that are there right now and she did mention that on Sunday night they felt a bit uncomfortable with some of the adults there who were pretty drunk and rowdy. I think that can happen anywhere they serve alcohol but with CSR having so many people on business accounts, I guess the chance of that might increase! For the record we didnt' see anything like that during our stay. Again, I don't think you can make a bad choice.

You are right...it will happen anywhere that alcohol is served. We have stayed at CSR and never had an issue with it. We visited the POR last year for dinner at Boatwright's, and saw it in the piano bar.

I have stayed at both, and just like you, I was very apprehensive to try something new, as POR was my favorite mod:lovestruc HOWEVER, I just came back from a trip to CSR....and honey, I'm sold!!!:thumbsup2
First of all, it's beautiful, and sitting outside at night by the lake with the whole resort lit up and listening to Fantasmic! in the distance is an experience you need to feel to believe. It has the best food court I have ever seen down there......the outdoor seating is great with couches and tables by the waterside.....no problems with bus service, and Mousekeeping was always on time for us.
Dont be scared......try something new, I did, and found a new favorite!!

Well, staying just one night at POR probably didn't give you time to enjoy half of what it has to offer! Between the carriage rides, the boat to Downtown Disney, the fishing hole, Bob Jackson, the arcade, the quiet pools, etc., there is so much to do there! Nothing against CSR, it looks very pretty in pictures, but the whole convention feel thing would steer me away. Plus, the extras that it has do not interest me. I have never used a salon or spa at any hotel I've stayed at. But if that is important to you, then maybe it is a good choice. Whichever you decide on, I am sure you will be satisfied. For the record. we thought the busses were great at POR, and I just think it is a beautiful resort, so that would be my choice. :cool1:

CSR! Better pool, no shared transportation and more food options. Check out my CSR website below for pics and info.

Glad to hear you enjoyed CSR! We have tried both and much prefer CSR.. we actually changed hotels from POR to CSR on our last trip because it just couldn't compare in our opinion. But like others have said, pick which theme more appeals because that's the deal maker or breaker.

I'm sold too! CSR is my favorite resort. I love walking around the resort in the evening with all the lights reflecting off the lake. It absolutely the most relaxing place for us.

DH is coming down tomorrow to move us back. I will be talking to him later on and see what he thinks. We have a 5 yr old so we are more family than adult.

I like the lush and mature landscaping but the pool at CSR and the food sounds nice. I don't need a salon or shopping.

Thank you all for your ideas and suggestions. I didn't even check to see if they had availablity. But we will go to the websites and see.
