Help!! Please convince me I made the right choice....last year we stayed at CSR & LOVED it. This year, I booked POP but when the FD was announced, I decided to change to a mod again but choose to try POR...you know...try something different??

Anyway, now I'm concerned. My family are questioning why I would choose to do POR over CSR & I don't really have a very good answer for them except, "try something different!!" There's me, DH & DS's 11 & 9....they loved CSR....are they going to love POR? What are the differences & similarities between the two? Which was your preference?

Thanks!!

Ooops...after I posted, I noticed I was in the Codes section...sorry!! Could a nice moderator please move me to the Disney Resort section please!!

We did the opposite.. from POR to CSR and I was going back and forth with it.

POR is nice. I like the themeing of the Bayou section. I love all the lush landscaping. Last time we go put into the Mansion section and our room face the parking lot and I was so upset, however we did get our room changed to the Bayou section. We stayed there before so I wanted something different. Originally for this trip we were planning on staying at WL, but the budget is doable with a moderate resort this time around.

CBR always appealed to me, but the main pool turns me off to it. So I figured CSR would be a good alternative. I showed my sons where we are staying and they are very excited about the Dig Site.

The big difference is the pool area and the themeing. The boat to DTD is nice, but it is much faster to drive there yourself in my opinion. The slide at CSR from what I heard is longer then the one at POR.

A plus with POR is the trundle bed that is available in the Bayou section. That was the hardest reason for us to switch to CSR.

I did the same as ToyStory. :) Have stayed at POR, but decided to give CSR a try for Free Dining. POR is just so relaxing and beautiful. :cloud9: I love the southern antebellum look and the boatride to DTD is so much fun. I'm normally not into the southwest look, but CSR looks so interesting (and buzz2001 has such a wonderful website and great information about it), so I decided to "branch" out and try something different. I think you will love POR. :thumbsup2 Also, with POR you will have 2 sinks in the bathroom area, as opposed to 1 at CSR. I would think that would be very helpful with all the family.

I have to say POR and CSR are equally my favorites! I have never had a problem at either. I am going on 2 trips (one in August and then 9 days later in September) and while CSR was my first choice for the August trip it was not available with my discount so POR was fine with me also. For the Spetember trip I am going with my parents and POR is their favorite! My dad has extremely fond memories of the food court!!:lmao: My parents are very excited to try the free dining. They were there last in 2000. I think you will be very happy with POR...the landscaping is so beautiful and peaceful and I really like the food court too! I hope it didn't change too much since the refurbishment. It's been a while since I was at POR and for some reason I can't remember the main pool area very well. We were in the AB section and spent most of our afternoon breaks at the quiet pool. I did love the pool area at CSR. I also just read about some changes that were made in 2003 to the pool at POR adding a geyser/spray that shoots water. My DD15 still loves those spraying water things. Anyway...I hope you love it and have a great trip! I can't wait!!

I give the edge to CSR because of no shared transportation. With kids/strollers, that's priceless to me.

CSR winds hands down. A close second would be POFQ then a distant third would be POR. CBR is not even in the race in my families opinion. Remember though many people, many opinions.

I went to POR March 17-22 and I can't stop thinking about how nice it was and how I can't wait to get back!!!! I stayed at AB and loved the lush landscaping there. It was very relaxing. There was so much to do that we stayed at the resort and enjoyed all it had to offer twice instead of going to the parks. I loved the boat trip to DTD. It's quicker to drive but this way you are more relaxed not having to worry about parking. The lounge from Wed-Sat has Bob Jackson performing at 8:30. He plays the piano, sings songs and gets everyone involved. Very funny. Family appropriate and worth seeing even if you don't decide to do POR. Just wanted to mention that my daughter loved the trundle bed. She's only five so I felt better with her sleeping close to the floor anyway. I say try POR.

Thanks KailiasMom! Love the lounge idea...hadn't heard of that! Now, if you went back, would you re-do the AB section or would you want to try the Manors? Do you (or anyone!) know anything about the fishing? I know it's catch & release but is there a charge for it?

I would do the AB section again. I personally thought that the landscape of the mansion section wasn't as warm and intimate as the AB section. The mansion section had a lot of stone and fountains for its landscaping where the AB section seemed to use a lot more foliage. I liked it a lot. I am not sure about the fishing. It is near the pool area on Old Man Island. I think there is a fee for it.
