POR vs CBR

My dd and I are going to wdw february 1-7 and I can get a AAA discount at either POR or CBR(king size bed, dd is 7 so its really not that big of a deal for me to share a bed w/ her. I would have preferred to stay a POFQ but I can't get the discount there, we have been to POR before but not to CBR.

We've been to both POR and CRB. My kids...8 and 10 love CRB!!!! They love playing on the playground on the beach. They love the atmosphere...very tropical like. They like the food court better than POR. I love how the food court is right next to the pool. It is very convenient. We've stayed at the Jamaica building twice and it is just a short walk over the bridge to the pool, food court and store. I don't think you will be disappointed!!! Have Fun!!

My family loves the POR. It is such a beautiful resort. Theres a large pool there and 3 quiet pools also. The nice thing about it is you can still use the pools at the POFQ if you stay at the POR. The food court has a great selection to choose from.

We have stayed at POR and my DH and I will be staying at CBR in February. We like to try all the different resorts. I love the tropical theme of the CBR, but I loved POR. Can't wait to try CBR. I honestly have not found a disney resort that we don't like.

I love both resorts, but I give the slight edge to CBR. CBR just had a nicer feel for me, was more relaxing. We had a preferred room so we were right near the food and main pool and loved it. POR is great too, but if you want something different you can't go wrong with CBR.

Just keep in mind the main pool will be closed when you are going at CBR. CBR is a beautiful resort.

My wife and I enjoyed both resorts, but I gotta give the nod to POR.
1) Boatwrights is a better sit down place compared to Shutters.
2) Old Man Island is different. They have the fishing hole. BUt I am looking forward to seeing the new pool after the rehab at CBR....
3) The boat ride to DTD from POR is one of my favorites. It is a very good trip to relax on.

The only problem I have with POR is the bus system. The last time we were there, I was only on a non-crowded bus twice. I only sat twice I should say...

Well we to had to decide and well....Disney made the decsion for us by closing the main pool and doing refurbs at the time we were planning. We are at POFQ because of this. I don't care how BIG that CBR is, when you have that much construction going on and the main pool is closed ect ect........lower your rates then ! Sorry, just venting, our family was really looking forward to staying at the CBR, however, we actually considered staying even with the refurbs but????, but why are we still paying the same price for a moderate rate ?????? That is one of the additions than a value is the slide at the main pool. I also don't want to look at "Excuse our Mess" signs all over . We are avoiding the stress .

We have heard great things about all the resorts, including POR and POFQ. Good Luck!!

P.S. Thank goodness for this website and forums, we end up being so educated on our vacations. Yea US!!

Loganmummy~ what dates will you be at POFQ b/c they are doing a rehab on that pool as well. You will be able to use the main pool at POR also they have added slides to the quite pools at CBR if you didn't know this already.

Thanks everyone so far for your inputs. I trully love POFQ the most all though as pp said I haven't really stayed at one resort that I haven't been happy w/ (POFQ, FW campground, POP/BC, Poly, POP, POR). I think I favor POFQ b/c its like being at home and it was the first disney property I ever stayed at. We will be there during MG so naturally POFQ would have been my first request but since this was somewhat last minute all of the AAA discounts were taken at that resort so my next choice was POR and I was happy w/ that but alas my dd7 would like to stay somewhere different and the only other mod w/ the discount was CBR. I must admit though for the last two thursdays ASMu has been available and that is where I originally wanted to stay especially since we are looking at going again at the end of the year plus its another 300 dollars savings which ='s more to spend in disney.

One of these two resorts is more than likely where we will be staying when we go back at the end of the year so I guess I should get all of my info together while I can.

We have stayed at each resort 3 times and love them both. I prefer POR because it feels smaller to me and I like the atmosphere, plus our friend is the bartender.

DH prefers CBR because of the atmosphere.

As my signature shows, I'm a total CBR fan. Both of these resorts have lovely grounds with beautiful landscaping that provide the relaxed sense of vacation get away that I love. I tend to the tropical, and love the ambient music at CBR. The construction is the only (temporary) down side. Since I always rent a car, the size of CBR is actually a plus, as it feels quiet and serene after the parks.
You'll have a funtastic time no matter where you stay!
