Hi,
I have stayed at the CBR so I am very familiar with it. I need to book 3 or 4 nights at a moderate next trip and I am thinking about booking POR Riverside. Has anyone stayed at both and can tell me how they compare? I did like the rooms at CBR - we had a king room and it was big and quite nice. It is me and my DH and we have a 2 yr old son who will be almost 3 at trip.
I am wanting to try something new and was thinking that the PORR would be a good candidate - any thoughts?

Sadly, I have not stayed at Carribean beach, although I have been there and it is a lovely resort. I am a fan of POR-Riverside (f/k/a Dixie Landings). Especially the Magnolia Bend Section. It is like living in a stately manor with beautifully manicured gardens and a few quaint water fountains. It is a perfect relaxing setting after a long day out and about.

We have stayed at both CBR and POFQ (not Riverside though). I loved both and thought they were both beautiful BUT I would probably stay at POR because I found CBR to be quite spread out (we knew this before we went). Walking back from the food court with 6 refillable mugs was a challenge! We loved the closeness of POFQ and I think POR is also a little less spread out?? Other wise it's just which theming you prefer. I think the mansions look really cool and would love to try them!

I have stayed at both and liked both very much. CBR has slightly larger rooms. I like the open feel that the lake gives to this resort.
I also enjoy all the colors that the buildings are painted and the casual feel.
At POR the resort is layed out along a river so the expeansive views are much less. We stayed in the Alligato Bayou section and enjoyed the forested atmosphere with onds and bridges. The Magnolia terrace mansion section has a more formal feel to it.
Check out pictures on the internet and if you think you might like the theme give it a try.

I have stayed at both... Po-R twice, when it was Dixie Landings, and CBR in May of 2001.

PO-R and PO-FQ are sister resorts, therefore you can use the amenties at both, which includes use of 2 themed pools, 2 playgrounds, 2 hot tubs, 2 food courts, and lounges.

The sitdown restaurant at PO-R serves both breakfast and dinner.

There are 4 quiet pools.

You can rent boats and bikes, just like at CBR.

There is a fishing hole where the little ones can catch fish (they have to throw them back, though)

There is a boat that will transport to you and from Downtown Disney in the evenings.

Bus transportation, we felt, was better at PO-R.

The rooms are a bit smaller, (315 sq ft vs 336 sq ft) bit the general layout of the rooms are the same. We didn't feel cramped.

You can have a choice of whether you prefer to stay in the Mansions area (French Provential style, with manicured gardens) or the Bayou area (more of a rustic feel, with Mother nature as was intended... cute little bunnies and duckies right outside of your door). We preferred the Bayou, and felt it was a bit more convenient.

I didn't go into what was at the CBR, since you have stayed there. We are trying to stay at all of the resorts, eventuallly... next up, Po-FQ!

Have a great time, whatever you decide!
