Do all the rooms in the AB section have sleeping for five? We are actually four in the party but need the extra bed due to siblings not wanting to sleep together. I read that there were renovations going on there currently.

Do they guarantee a room with the extra bed on your ressie?

If you ask you might be given a room in alligator Bayou. Put that request on your reservation. If they do not have rooms booked up with parties of 5 you will have a chance to get into alligator bayou. Remember its just a request, there is no guarantee you will be in the alligator bayou section. Most of the time they try to accomodate you. When you check in if you find you have not gotten the room you want ask if one is available. They will look and see.:):goodvibes It never hurts to ask... Here is a great web site done by one of our own disboard members for POR and POFQ

Thank you for the response:)

What if you are a party of five? Do they provide a roll away? Or must I book two rooms?

Are there still trundle beds in the rooms? I saw photos of a Murphy bed that does not look very safe for a toddler.

If you have a reservation for a party of 5 you will be given the Alligator Bayou with the murphy bed. The trundles are now all gone with the refurbishment. I have had a few friend with children 5 years old up stay recently in the new room and they say the murphy bed is great. Also it is my understanding that you can ask for a bed rail from the front desk if you do not have one that you use at home that you can bring with you. :goodvibes

If you visit the Port Orleans Riverside thread on this board you can speak to lots of others who have recently returned having stayed in a room with a Murphy bed so a good opportunity to find out if its something that would suit your family. There is also a POR photos thread in the Resort Photos board above here :)

The POR thread is very informative. Also the Unofficial POR web site http://www.portorleans.org/
Families of 5 have priority for AB rooms, and families less then 5 can get them subject to availability. Rooms also have pack and plays for children too young for murphy bed. Or as mentioned, you can request bed rails.

POR is a wonderful resort, you'll love it :goodvibes

Many thanks for the replies. It's hard to tell if this bed will accommodate our DD or DS. It's seems like a toddler will fall out and not big enough for our pre teen. I know there are bed rails but we are arriving late and I do not want to be waiting for housekeeping to bring bed rails and then have to set them up. We are arriving at 11:30 pm in a best case scenario.

Does anyone know the length of the murphy mattress? Is it removable?

I read another guest say it could accommodate a child of 5ft 2in. If you look at that link I posted above, you will also see that there was enough room to put a blowup mattress by one of the beds ... maybe thats an option for you?

:thumbsup2 We used this site last year for info before we went. It's GREAT!

Our family of five stayed at Port Orleans Riverside in March 2012, and our ten year old daughter loved the murphy bed. She is a bit taller than average for her age, and the murphy bed easily accomodated her. Your DD and DS may fight over who gets the murphy bed.

Many but not all of the rooms in the AB section of POR have sleeping for five (no rooms in Magnolia Terrace have sleeping for five). But if there are five people in your party staying in one room at POR, POR will guarantee that you get a room that can accomodate five. They take that into account when the accept your reservation; they wouldn't book a party of five into POR without being able to put you into a room that can accomodate five. It is only not guaranteed when you request a room with a murphy bed but have a party of less than five.

If you are a party of 5 they will automatically put you in AB because they Mansion section is 4 guests maximum I believe (unless the 5th is 3 or under)

Edit: The pp above answered already, sorry!

My 14 yr old, 95 lb. daughter who is 5 ft. tall slept in it last November and it was fine.

Thanks again everyone for your helpful responses. I booked the room today with an AP rate of 188.00 including tax and hope it all works out! If anyone knows if the mattress comes off and I could just put it on the floor it won't be an issue at all. My DS is a wild sleeper and DD is too big.:)
