POR to other resorts?

For the first part of my trip, I am going straight, and only, to the main parks so I'm sure that I can figure out how to get around. However, on the latter part of my trip, I will be doing a lot of dining at other resorts and not at the parks. In order to go to the other resorts from POR, will I be best served going to DTD and catching busses to the specific resorts there or is there a better way? Is there a central hub of all of the busses where I can transfer and go to the resorts that I need? How much time should I allow when going from one resort to another? What is is best way to go about this?

Thanks in advance!

I will respond since no one else has. I am not sure since I have not stayed at POR but this is my best guess.

It would depend on where you are wanting to go. And when you are wanting to go.

For example in the morning the buses to DTD are rare at night they are full. You might see if you can find a map on the boards for water taxi's

I would agree that it does depend on where and when you are going. Taking the boats from POR to DTD is very relaxing (it's the reason I choose POR/POFQ over the other moderates:)). But the boats stop at POFQ and it does take more than 20 min. to get there. Once there, you'd need to take a bus to the other resort, which would be making another stop on the west side, before continuing on. The bus may also serve multiple resorts. DTD is not the best place to transfer. You'd be better off taking a bus to one of the theme parks and taking a bus/boat/monorail to your destination.
The concierge desk at POR can help you plot the best route. I just stayed at POR and they are very helpful.
The general rule is to allow at least an hour to an hour and a half to go from resort to resort (I would say the latter...if you arrive early, it's bonus time to explore the resort.)
Have a great trip!

When going from POR to another resort (not counting POFQ) using Disney transport, you will need to use either a park or DTD as a transfer point. Other than the boat to DTD that was mentioned previously, all of the transport at POR will start with a bus.

The question of which park to use or whether to use DTD is primarily a function of what resort you need to get to and what time of day you are traveling. Unless you want to ride the DTD boat or no parks are open (usually only an issue after dinner), DTD generally should be your last choice as a transfer point. For the monorail resorts and WL/FW, a bus to the MK followed by monorail (for the CR, Poly and GF) or boat (for the GF, Poly and WL/FW). For the Epcot resorts (BW, YC/BC and S/D), a bus to DHS then walk or boat to the resorts is a good option (you also can take a bus to Epcot and go through the park to exit at the IG to get to those resorts, but that requires park entrance). Other than that, you frequently will do best by taking the first bus that comes to POR and using whatever park that takes you to as a transfer.

Oh, and the concierge desks at the resorts don't always provide very good recommendations for how to get around most efficiently. Honestly, you are better posting specific questions here and following the advice you get.

I stay at POR every year; and for instance I love going over to the Wilderness Lodge and have dinner. I take the motor taxi going from MK over to WL, then I take the bus back to DTD and take the water taxi back to POR.

You can save time on one leg of your trip by catching buses or other transporation from the parks directly to the resort you desire, then catch the bus from the resort to DTD route and then the water taxi coming back when you may not be so rushed to get somewhere (say for an ADR or something).

I do it all the time, because I go the week after T-giving and I go to many of the resorts to see their X-mas decorations. Works for me each year.

Enjoy!
