POR to MK-drive or take bus?

We will be staying at POR in Sept. We love having our own car to get around, and not be dependant on the scheduled bus service. DH particularly doesn't like having to take the buses. We like to leave when we want to, and not have to wait for a bus, then wait while everyone else gets dropped off before we do. My question is, from what I have read, it actually takes longer to get to MK by car than by the Disney transportation system. Is that true? What's the fastest way to get there?

I'm only making an educated guess here but I think it would take longer by car. You have line up to park, then take the tram to the TTC and get the monorail or ferry.

The bus takes you direct to MK. They run every 20 minutes but actually I never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus my whole stay at POR.

As for dropping other guests off, that is true. It would drop off the POFQ guests then go on to POR. Depending on which building you were in would decide which bus stop you would get off at. It' only a couple of minutes between resorts though as they are linked.

I'd be tempted to try the bus first, then if your DH really isn't happy, go in the car.

Going to the MK from any resort is best from the bus. So you don't have to take the tram to the ferry.just the bus to the gate.

We also use our car to travel everywhere on Disney property EXCEPT MK. It's so much quicker to take the bus and be dropped off right near the gate. That way you don't have to deal with parking, taking the tram possibly, then taking the boat or monorail over to MK. Please convince your DH to take the bus - the amount of time you may save by not waiting for a bus will more than be eaten up in the time spent leaving/returning to your car. Busses run quite frequently from MK and we usually end up running to catch a bus to leave so there's no waiting at all!
