Just wondering if anyone has any tips. October trip 5 nights. We have four adults total, 2 seniors and 2 in our 40's. The resort will give us a refrig for medical reason's free(insulin). Does anyone have any suggestions for room locations, or anything else? The seniors have poor night vision. We will have two connecting rooms, AB or Mansion? We do have a car but also would like to use the buses. Thank you for any information you may have to offer.

Building 14, Bayou, first floor, and ask for side by side rooms or connecting (they are different). Because you have medical problems and this building is used for handicap, you'll get preference over non handicap. This is a non smoking building. Closest to the cafeteria, great for parking, not too far from bus stop, and a quiet pool.

Thank you very much for the information. I checked a map of POR and this did look like the ideal spot. The non smoking part is important to us, as is being closer to food/bus area. My sister and I would like to be in connecting rooms with our mother and aunt so that we can be close if they need anything. We are so excited for our trip, although a little nervous that everything will go ok.

I completely agree with the above poster. You can't get any better than 14. But I will strongly recommend you explain in writing your family's limitations and send it to them, this way you can assure a room in this building. You will love this location, it is so close to everything!

I'd suggest calling and talking to someone about your needs. Here's the phone number for WDW Resort Special Reservations:
(407) 939-7807
(407) 939-7670 [TTY]
You may have already spoken to them about your need for a refrigerator. On your reservation confirmation sheet, it should say first floor and close to (I forgot the name of their main building with the food court) for Medical Reasons or very similar language.

Thank you so much for all of the great information. I will read more of the disABILITIES forum as we continue to make plans for our trip. :D

A couple of years ago we went with my husbands parents, his mom is diabetic and has lots of trouble with her feet. We stayed in Building 14 , in room 1430, and it was connected to room 1432, a corner room. It was standard view, of beautiful greenery, and a sidewalk- no parking lot! And another bonus is it's on the first floor.
We loved it there. Very easy access to the food court, the bus stop, a quiet pool with laundry beside it, and not too far from the main pool.

Enjoy your stay!
