Have any of your children done this adveture cruise? I was hoping to get in on the pirate cruise but they were booked. This is also known as the jester cruise. Anyone have tips, storys, suggestions on this cruise? I just reserved our children a spot and hope they like it. I know it is at POR marina...Thats about all I know:lmao: Thanks

We are thing about this also. We are staying at POR and thought it would be good for a non park day.

Heath-and-javens-mom, my daughter did it last summer and loved it. It's her favorite (and she's been doing the pirates cruises at the other resorts for years).

I have a lot of photos that she took on the cruise. Unfortunately, my photos are in the process of being transferred to another photo-sharing website and therefore are currently unavailable. If you want to PM me with the link to this thread, as soon as my photos are available for sharing, I will post a link to them here. (I'm not on the Dis often and thus I fear I will be unable to find this thread when I need to.)

We stayed at POR so was very easy to access.
Had 3 kids go on this Adventure & they loved it !!
I dropped off kids at the Fishing Hole, and the CM's took it from there.
We were given a pager of course, if needed.
Kids then taken to Marina and boarded a big nice pontoon boat, decorated in theme style and given jester hats, beads and lots of goodies.
A very small group of only 6 kids, so lots of personel attention.
My kids said the CM's were funny, and great.
They travelled along the river and made several stops where they got off the boat and had to solve clues to find the next clue, they went all the way to Downtown Disney to find the clue at the Volcano at Rainforest, which was also their Potty Break I was told. They were served lunch, which They said was yummy. Lots of stories, meeting characters and eventually finding the key to unlock the treasure chest ! Which then they get tons of goodies.....
They were smiling so much when I picked them up, and said they wanted to do it again the next day (which we didn't).....
If you can swing it, then do it !!!
They still talk about that being a huge hy-lite of the trip!:thumbsup2 :joker: :joker: :joker: :joker:

awww......It sounds like they will love it. My neice (9) will also be going and they all wanted to do something "special " together and I think this will be perfect. Thank you all so much!

Our three boys did this as well. Their boat was pretty full, probably since we were there in June.

While they were on the cruise, my wife, our 1-year old and I were able to take a nice walk around POR and take a lot of pictures. We were also able to eat lunch at Riverside Mills.

The boys said they had a lot of fun.

WE've been 4 times since 1999 and I've never heard any mention of this excursion. I have friends who will be there at the end of July...how would they sign their child up for this? Please reply. THANKS!:teacher:

I just called the regular wdw number and asked to speak with someone in recreation, they transfered me. I think you can call 402-wdw-play (not positive thats the correct number but i think so), that will take you directly to the recreation reservation area and just ask about the adventure cruises. There are 3 or 4 cruises to choose from and all at different resorts.

What was served at the "yummy" lunch?

Well, some of my photos have been transferred to a new website but not all of them (*grumble* *grumble*). However, my photos of the PO-RS Sassagoula River Adventure Cruise are now available for sharing: click here.

I hope the above link works. If it does, I need to warn you that my photo album is not complete nor are the photos in order just yet (Flickr messed up the order during the transfer process). I also don't know if the photos’ titles or captions transferred properly.

Now, with all that being said, I hope my photo album will at least give you a general idea as to what the cruise is like for the children. My daughter really had a wonderful time on that cruise last summer. She hopes to do it again during our next WDW vacation.

I should add that I took photos at the beginning & ending of the cruise. But since parents are not allowed on the cruise itself, the photos of the actual cruise were taken by my daughter.

Just thought I'd list below the most recent info that I could find from Disney. The following was taken from one of their press releases (dated 5-11-07):

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Wee pirates and other seafaring adventurers with a penchant for mystery and treasure need look no further than their own backyard -- at Walt Disney World Resort, that is.

Adventurous kiddies between 4 and 10 years old can sail the high seas and pillage, plunder and pilfer their hearts out -- or go on a quest for Mardi Gras fun -- during special programs that set sail from four different Walt Disney World resort hotels.

Here's a rundown of the booty-seeking adventures offered:

Sassagoula River Adventure Cruise at Disney's Port Orleans Resort-Riverside -- In this Mardi Gras themed adventure, a guide shares the history of an ancient court jester said to live within the region. Young guests embark on a clue-driven journey with a grand finale appearance by the Jester himself! Children, proclaimed Honorary Jesters, are taught how to bring happiness to all those they encounter, just as the Jester did in his time, before receiving gifts of enchantment (a goodie bag) and a group lunch. (Offered Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:30-11:30 a.m.)

All adventure cruises are available to children ages 4 to 10 (kids must be potty trained) for $28.17 plus tax. Each includes lunch and a themed goodie bag and is supervised by two Disney cast members, one of whom is a certified lifeguard. For reservations, call 407/WDW-DINE.

We chose this activity last Sept after I tried repeatedly to get my kids on the pirate adventure (it fills up fast.) This adventure was a little more unknown at the time and therefore still available when I made reservations. My kids loved it (ds 8, dd 6)! The boat was full of kids but that didn't make any difference. They had enough staff to help and the kids loved the idea of going somewhere that was special just for them!

As a little gift we gave them each their own disposable camera to record their journey. It was funny to see what they took pictures of. For my son, he loves cars, so it was things like the maintanence truck fixing something at a resort and other goofy stuff like that. Silly, silly...

DisneyYahoo, how cute! And I know EXACTLY what you mean. During one of our Animal Kingdom Lodge vacations, my daughter took no less than 50 (count 'em, 50) photos of the TV in the Kilimanjaro Club lounge. Thank goodness she used a digital camera otherwise I would have been a little miffed. ;)

If your children happened to capture any photos of the cruise, please consider scanning them in and sharing them here. I know that other parents would love to see them.
