I just booked with special needs dept for a roll in shower room at POR and requested King bed and in the Mansions.
I was told such a room at least exists, not sure how many like that though.

I was wondering if any one here has been in such a room, could you tell me where it was? which building? where in building, like looking at parking lot, near laundry etc.?

Thanks

I've been in one of those rooms before. All the mansions are a bit of a distance from the main building but it's a beautiful pathway to get there or you can drive. As I recall we were close to a parking lot and were on the second floor in the second building to the left as you take the bridge over to Magnolia Bend...sorry I don't remember the building name or number. It was extremely difficult to find an accessible pathway. We'd get to the end of a sidewalk and find steps, then backtrack until we finally found a ramped area. While I prefer the decor of the mansions to the bayou area it really wasn't convenient at all. ---Kathy

Yes, it was extremely difficult to find the right pathways. We were in Parterre Place, that is the farthest building on the right when you look toward the mansions. We prefer the rooms at the bayou, but the mansion rooms are very pretty.

I hope you have a wonderful time.

Okay, I haven't been at POR for a few years but, from Parterre Place facing the river - couldn't you turn right toward Oak Manor and go over the bridge between the two buildings?

Actually, it sounds like each building has at least one room that would fit the OP's needs (yeah, I know - way too few). I think Oak Manor would give the easiest access. I don't remember any steps, but again, I could be wrong.

Yes, you can easily see the bridge and the pathways but to exit the buildings it's difficult to find a ramped pathway- there are lots of steps and stairs. They do exist but are not well marked. Although it was a bit of a challenge, it certainly didn't ruin our trip. Still I wouldn't choose to stay in that section again and much preferred the convenience of Alligator Bayou.---Kathy

Can you tell me exactly where in the bldg you were? and was it a King size room? Corner room? I ask because I called today to verify what they have as my reservation confirmation says nothing whatever about special services room etc.
I asked if they had one in Oak manor and was told not so she blocked me one in Parterre Place which I think I will like but would not tell me the exact location of the room in the building.

The room was on the second floor facing the parking lot. The same thing happened to us about the confirmation not having special requests on it even though we had booked through the special requests number. Here is a map of POR and where we were. I hope it helps!!

Here is a picture stepping out of the room:

Here are 3 rooms pictures. Forgive me for not showing the size of the room better. (It was before I was really addicted to the DIS and didn't think about being able to help show how big the wheelchair accessible rooms were.)
