Its been 6yrs so i am happy to say that our family will be heading back to DIS to stay at the POR riverside in June. If there is any advice for staying at the port i would appreciate it.

AB Buildings 14, 15, or 18 are all close to everything. If you're in 15, you can cut through a little pathway in between the bushes to get to the buses.

We stayed in the Mansions Parterre Place section and it was a pleasant walk to the main building - not right next to it, but across a bridge and just a little farther - very, very nice location.

I highly recommend Boatwright's too - great breakfasts!:thumbsup2

If you have kids 4-12yo, the pirate cruise is offered there twice a week and gives you 2 hours for just the adults!:woohoo: The food court was great; we ate there at least once a day and never got sick of the choices--great variety.popcorn::

We've stayed in both the mansions and the AB section and liked them both. For mansions we liked Magnolia Terrace and for AB we liked bldg 14. From Mansions we would walk to the main bldg in the morning and catch the bus there (maybe 5-7 minute walk) and coming "home" we would get off at the stop behind our building.

POR is the best resort ever! A couple little tips: Take advantage of the small, quiet pools that are located around the resort, they are seriously really really quiet and relaxing. The boat to DD is cool along with the watercraft and bikes that you can rent. The fishin hole is also available for catch and release. The best part about it is the food court. You can't beat it. There is a wide selection for everyone and plenty of seating. Enjoy your trip!

POR is DH's favorite resort!!! We've stayed in almost all of them and he loves Parterre Place!!! We will certainly be staying there again... you know, a happy DH is a happy trip!;)

The pools are great
Breakfast at Boatrights is wonderful
The boat ride to DTD is so refreshing, plus you can see the treehouses
The overall feel of the mansions is very relaxing

I had heard all kinds of bad things about the buses. We had excellent bus service every time. We waited for 5 minutes the longest time and only shared a bus with POFQ one time and that was during marathon weekend. Also, if you are on the bus to MK, watch on the side of the roads for deer. We saw a lot of them going early in the morning.

Have a great stay!!!

of all the WDW resorts POR is our #1 favorite--esp. Magnolia Terrace ... you feel transported to another time and space--leisure and peace..great pools ...even a walk is SO unlike other resorts...enjoy!!!!

hi- what are the treehouses? We are staying here in Sept and looking forward to the peace and quiet of this resort after long days at parks-

I was told that, for the Mansions, buildings 90 and 95 are the best. Which ones are these?

thanks
Xanthe

Walt created the treehouses to resemble real treehouses. They are built by the Sassagoula River and are easily visible from the boat. they were part of the deluxe resorts. They are now used for the foreign students that are working at WDW because they could not be adaptable for the handicapped laws.

Building 95 is Parterre Place. 90 is Oak Manor. Those are the closest two of the mansions to the main building, Ol' Man Island, and Boatrights.

Is there any real big difference between the rooms in the mansions? Does it really matter which one I am put in? Is the distance to the buses/main building usually the only deciding factor?

thanks for all the great info should we request a certain building at check in or before we even get there? how does the transportation work to and from all the parks. Is the boat ride just to Downtown or MK too.
thanks Disney friends. My kids are excited!

Mommybuzz909, the rooms are the same, with two full beds or one king, with only the location being the difference. Love the ceiling fans to complete the "feel" of the mansions!

Cerdafied7, The only place the boat goes is DTD. To get to the parks, buses are the only transportation. We never experienced bad delays or over-crowded buses while we were there. We did this past week staying at ASMo though!!

When we request a building or area, we usually do it when we make our reservation or call back and have the information added to our reservation. I've never gotten there and found I was somewhere else. It always works out great:thumbsup2

I hope you have a great trip!!!

Have a great time! We always request Magnolia Terrace on Magnolia Bend. It's so close to the lobby and food court, and a 5/10 min walk to the bus stop. Plus, we think it's the prettiest building :goodvibes

You have to get the apple tart with a scoop of vanilla bean icecream on top. It is one of the best things that I've ever put in my mouth. They are in the bakery at the POR food court. You won't regret it!

POR is our family favorite. We have stayed in Alligator Bayou about 8 or 9 times.....always have either asked for or simply been assigned to building 24. Furthest away from main building but REALLY quiet. In fact there is a quiet pool right there. And the West Depot is close too!

I hope to be planning another trip to POR really soon! Las Vegas to visit daughter and hubby first 'though and also a trip to Wales in 2009....
