We are a family of 4 traveling in Aug
We have a 5yo and 3yo

Which resort would you choose?

We love them both! POFQ is more compact, which is nice. I think their pool is geared more for small children like yours. We like the food court better at POR. We are staying at CSR this summer (which we really like too), but all I keep thinking about is POR and POFQ. They are our favorite moderates and I think you will like either one.

I really liked POR but chose to stay at POFQ this summer because it is so much smaller and compact. POR always seemed crowded around the pool/hot tub and the food court. I'm hoping that FQ isn't as crowded. Plus, it's a short walk to enjoy either one!

POR is our favorite moderate - beautiful landscaping, nice main pool plus 5 quiet pools, 2 choices of types of rooms (mansions or rustic), better food court, nice lobby with entertainment at night...you can easily walk to POFQ and enjoy their pool as well.
Both resorts are very nice - good luck with your decision!

I guess it would depend on what you are looking for in a resort.

POFQ is smaller and everything is closer. They have an awesome splash play area for the kids, where POR does not. The food court is less crowded. We found the transportation a lot better here than POR if you are taking the busses.

POR has better landscaping and just a better overall relaxing look and feel. We like the food court here a lot better than POFQ, but it can be very busy, especially between 8-9 in the morning. We also like the main pool here much better, plus you have the other quiet pools to choose from. You can also walk to POFQ and use their kids splash area if that's important to you. I much prefer the rooms and decor at POR too.

These are my options of course. You can't go wrong with either. Good luck choosing!

Not a fan of POFQ....I do like the theming, but The closeness( Claustrophobic feel ) to me isn't pleasant. And It would be good for your 2 young ones, because it is geared towards lil ones.. The food court is very good though, & obviously easy to catch the bus.

POR on the other hand just kicks it up a notch. There are 4 pools total I believe, and the main pool is really nice. Theming here is nice, depending on what you want. And plenty of places to grab a bite. Yes the grounds are bigger , but I never felt like anything was more than a few minutes away at worst...Nothing Like CBR, & CSR..

Either route you go, I'm sure you'll have a Great time.:thumbsup2

I prefer everything about POR over POFQ but kids your age will like the pool/splash pad area. Of course you have access to that no matter which you stay in, but it would involve a longer walk.

- The Mansion rooms and POFQ rooms are very comparable.
- I love the real NOLA so was excited but the "deadness" of POFQ, especially in evenings made it feel overly dead.
- A few times at FQ we had to go pick up folks at POR on bus that that stunk.
- Old food court was cool, most fun area and now it's just a room ...........
- POR has a much bigger and better food court area.
- Boatrights at POR is a nice enjoyable meal
- Yehaa Bob at POR is great for a family to enjoy, fun for parents, family safe for kids http://www.yehaabob.com/
- POR has quiet pools
- Both have boat to DS

Bottom line to me has always been I don't like paying full moderate prices for POFQ.

I agree! We too like POR better than POFQ. Nicer grounds overall, landscaping is gorgeous. Better food court, onsite restaurant, entertainment (yehaw bob...kids might love this). And as mentioned, you get to use POFQ pool/court court etc if you wanted to. Plus if youre going to disney springs by boat, they picked up at POR first. Often when arriving at POFQ the boat would already be almost completely full. I feel bad for those waiting in line, they have to wait for the next boat.

Totally agree with this.

We have stayed at both and much prefer POFQ. We stayed at POR last year and did not like how spread out it was. We did love the quiet pools, though.

We stayed at POFQ when our kids were the same age as yours are now and we loved it. The compact size, awesome pool slide, only one bus stop - worked out perfectly. I would highly recommend it.

Which one is he at ?
He is a POR. Regarding the boat to DS there is now seperate service from late afternoon till the end of the night. The 2 resorts share in the morning and afternoon still.

We have stayed at both. For your kids' ages I would definitely choose POFQ. We loved it when the kids were small. POR has a more mature theme and is waaaaay more spread out. If POFQ offered free dining deal, we would likely still choose it over POR. I just like it better.

While we have not stayed at POFQ we have always visited it for a change of pace while being at POR. We still prefer how POR looks but find the compact street grid of POFQ quaint. Plus the food court at POFQ has some diff opts. That said other than POFQ being a nice evening stroll to a different place we will probably continue to choose POR if given the choice between the two.

Overall the food court, boatrights, peacefully spread out (a positive for us as it offers nice walks in the mornings) and main pool seem to work for us best.

In the end both are very nice, we just prefer POR. We have friends that are just the opposite.

I like POR better. it's very Princess and the Frog.
I sometimes find POFQ a little "dark" whereas there's something quite homely about POR.

French Quater. It's a smaller resort, so less walking. Cool water slide for kids. Boat ride to Disney Spring (which Riverside also has).
