POR Parterre Place Question

We originally reserved rooms around Thanksgiving for Magnolia Terrace but we want a relatively quiet area in the mansions. Since Magnolia Terrace is so popular, we're guessing it will be the first mansion to fill to capacity so we've changed our reservation to Parterre Place, third floor.

Although we don't mind walking a bit more around the resort, we're curious about walking distances to/from Parterre Place. How far is Parterre Place from the main building at POR (with Boatwright's, guest services, etc) and from the south bus depot at POR (e.g. 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile)?

If anyone has stayed at Parterre Place, please share your experiences and opinions. Thanks!

I loved Paterre Place. We had fountain/river view, second fl. It was very quiet for us. I thought the walk over the footbridge to the main bldg/dining hall was very nice, I'm not sure how far you would say it was distance wise, but it took about 5 mins to walk it. Paterre Place is a non-smoking bldg next to Oak Manor which is a smoking bldg. You do share the quiet pool and laundry with with Oak Manor. I really liked strolling along the river in the evenings. We walked all over thru the mansions and the bayou bldgs. It's very romantic there. I picked Paterre Place for the same reasons, mostly because they are on the end and there is less traffic. We did not use the bus system as we had a rental car. If we were to stay at POR again, I would definitely stay in Paterre Place mansions again. :)

Thanks for responding wdisneelvr! It sounds like you had a great time at POR. We're definitely looking forward to our stay at Parterre Place, especially now that we know it's non-smoking! :D

I've stayed in Parterre Place 2 x and loved the location! I requested the "quiet pool" side which puts you on the end nearest the bridge over to the Main busstop and food court. I stayed in rooms 9712 & 9715 which were 2nd floor, with the ice machine around the corner and the parking lot just a quick few steps away(which we liked as we used our rental car alot). I had a standard view room, but could see the quiet pool thru the trees and the river view was just around the corner. I highly recommend requesting the "quiet pool" side (side nearest Oak Manor) as this building is rather spread out. It was probably a 3 minute walk over the bridge to the Main building.

We've stayed at DL/POR a few times. We just got back from Parterre Place rooms 9907 and 9908 (connecting). These third floor rooms were very nice. However, by about day three the trek from these rooms to main building/bus stop had grown old (especially for the 9, 11, and 14 year olds with us.) The main staircases on the fronts of the building don't go to the third floor. We had to go up those stairs, around some corners on the second floor, and to another staircase by the vending machine rooms that went to the third floor. Overall it's a great building, but ask for rooms nearer to the footbridge, maybe on the first or second floor. The third floor rooms were just too far away for all the going back and forth from the room, to the restaurant, back to the room to drop off mugs, back to the bus stop, etc. You can get the picture. We like whole Magnolia Bend section, but have decided that the Alligator Bayou rooms near the main building might be much more convenient.

By the way - We chatted with an employee at the food court. He said that POR is closing in October for a major renovation. You never know with Disney, but keep that in mind. We are going back in October, and aren't sure where to make our reservations now.

Stayed at Parterre Place in 1999 - loved it. The 3rd floor is in the middle of the building. Your walk will be much longer as pointed out. I would definitely change your request to 1st or 2nd floor. I would also ask to be as close to the river as you can and near the quiet pool. Your walk at that point will be no more than 5 minutes.

One note, in the mornings you might want to catch the bus at the South Depot which is POR's main bus stop. Sometimes the buses are quite crowded in the mornings.

Have fun! :)
