I'm in the later stages of planning a June '05 trip to WDW.

We've thoroughly enjoyed both the CBR and the CSR and we really like the relaxed, spread out feeling of the moderate resorts along with the white sand beaches and hammocks.

So we figured we'd give either POR or POFQ a try.

It's me (DH39), DW40 and DD8. Our plan is to stay at one of these two resorts for 5 nights and use our six day's worth of Park Hopper Plus features. Then we're going to stay 2 nights at AKL in a Savanah room and just enjoy the resort and maybe have lunch and dinner at some other resorts and check them out.

So what are the advantages, tips, tricks, and really neat things to know about POR and POFQ??

I've stayed at both and both are beautiful resorts. I don't think you could go wrong with either. My family loves POFQ. However, I think you and I might be looking for different things. We like the smallness of POFQ- never a far walk to anywhere. POR is much more spread out. The mansions are absolutely beautiful! We loved them. Both share buses- with POFQ being picked up first and dropped off first. POR has a sit down restaurant I believe. If you like the spread out resorts- I'd go with POR.
Either way, both are wonderful!

i've only stayed at POR never POFQ, but we absolutely love POR. since they both have the boat to DTD, a close walk to the bus (1 stop at FQ, and 4 at POR) and a food court.
bou POR has the better of the two food courts, a sit down restaurant, and bob jackson at the river roost lounge. he's there wed-sun (i think) and is a piano playing comedian that's a hoot.

We have stayed at both and recently returned from POFQ and loved it. It is a much smaller resort. The busses, except DTD pickup and dropoff at POFQ first and depending on the time of year that you go this can make a big difference in your experience, if you get upset of waiting long for a bus or having to stand. Don't think you can go wrong with either choice.

Having stayed at all the moderates now, POFQ is my favorite followed by CSR. CBR is my least favorite.

We stayed at Riverside and only saw FQ from the DTD boat. It looked more like courtyards with buildings. Riverside is fairly spread out, with more trees and more of a secluded feeling to the buildings. It could be that's just from what I saw of FQ, though.
