Hi

I'm considering POR & POFQ for next September.

Just wondered what everyone thought and which they would choose and why?

Our alternatives are the Swan or Dolphin??

There will be me, DH, DD6 & DD5

Any comments very welcome

Thanks in advance

Janet

we have stayed at POR and we loved it, we stayed at the Mansion and it was perfect for us. it is a big resort however it never bothered us, we enjoyed the walk to the food court, bus stop etc as the grounds are very pretty. My DD was 5 and the pool was great for her. she was still in armbands and I felt she was completely safe.

I have not stayed at POFQ however a bonus for it for me would be that the bus stops at POFQ first to pick up and drop off. It is also much smaller than POR.

we chose POR
I liked the look of that one better and heard so many good things about it.

we also decided on the por, i havent heard any negative comments about it

i am also trying to decide between these two.

the FQ is much smaller so everything is near by and i like the look of the buildings, but Riverside looks much grander and i like the look of the main building more.

I have stayed in all 4 hotels.

POFQ - It is a lot smaller that the POR so no matter where your rooms are its never a long walk to the pool or the food court. The bus stops there first so its easier to get a seat on the way to the parks, its nice to be dropped of first especially if its busy and you have to stand.

POR - Scenery is beautiful, there are two types of rooms - mansion rooms which are more of a elegant, romantic style and aligator bayou which are more rustic. We stayed in Aligator bayou in building 24 which is a trek from the food court but right near a bus stop and a quiet pool - most of the time we were the only ones in it!! There was a lot more wildlife around POR, lots of ducks, rabbits etc. We are going back here in April.

Dolphin - We have been here lots of times. The location is great - walking distance to MGM and Epcot, the boardwalk is great at night. The beds are great!! Softest beds ive slept in! The rooms are quite large. However my last 2 stays were not great. They tend to have lots of conferences and on numerous times in our last stay they closed off the pools and/or lobby for the conventions. After 10 visits i personally feel their attention is now more focused on business people and not people on holiday! I wont be returning.

Swan - basically the same as the dolphin but a lot smaller, only have the one lap pool but you can walk over to the dolphin for the grotto pool - the cheaper eating places are all in the dolphin so i wouldnt stay here again.

My favourite out of the 4 would be POR - its hard to beat disney service and the resort is really beautiful!

Thanks for all your comments - these have really helped.

From researching various sites :surfweb: I've found POR coming out with really good comments more often than the others.

I think this will be our choice this time - I can always try the others next time :rotfl:

POR is fabulous
Agree with previous post referring to the quiet pools attached to the blocks. When we were there a few yrs ago, they were open all hrs, and we used to enjoy a midnight swim just the two of us. The heating seemed to be turned up at night! Really nice.
Having said that, we have chosen POFQ this year...only because we fancy trying it. We have checked we can still walk along to the quiet pools in POR, and we don't mind walking.

In either side of PO, the grounds are really spacious and lovely. The other great feature is the facility to get the boat to Downtown Really good.

We stayed at POFQ, our first moderate & loved it. Staff were wonderful, nothing too much trouble, rooms well cleaned with towel animals & the ground were very scenic & peaceful. Great bus service & we loved listening to Elliott Dyson in the Scat Cats bar some evenings. It was'nt far to walk to POR & you can use por's pools. We are staying at the CBR this year, but keep thinking about changing to go back to POFQ as we enjoyed it so much.

We are staying at POR in June this year and it looks really beautiful.
We staying at the All-stars a few years ago, and as lovely and colourful as it was, It was so packed full of people hehe. POR doesnt seem to be as hectic hehe
