POR or CSR?

Hi folks. We're in a conundrum. We're currently booked a POR for our fall break in October (family of 3...2 adults, 1 child that will be 5 at the time of the trip). I'm fine with POR but keep going back to CSR. I love the remodeled rooms, even though not all of them are that way. I'm mostly thinking about my 5 year old and keeping him entertained at a resort when we have a pool afternoon/night or take in a movie on the lawn, etc. Our goal is to stay somewhere new each trip, if we can. Our last trip was at POFQ.

I've heard that the evening crowd at CSR is very business oriented due to the convention center and that the restaurants can sometimes be "taken over" by that crowd. However, that pool draws me in every time. POR gives us the choice of 2 main pools as we could walk down to FQ. They also have the boat transportation to DS and no construction but older rooms by considering that some of CSR's are being renovated.

Would it be worth it to switch to CSR? I would definitely request one of the renovated rooms if I did so.

I never have had the business crowd take over at CSR during busy conventions. I found the pools weren't as busy and didn't find that they utilized the restaurants, either. I also preferred POFQ to POR.

We have stayed at Both CSR & POFQ enjoyed both with Bus service at CSR better but with the construction, I would stick with POR.

I just asked this question exactly on a different thread. I was originally staying at the AoA, but upon watching the 7 in 7 review, I got convinced to switch over to CSR. We wanted to stay there originally, but the construction turned us away because last time we visited WDW, we stayed at POFQ and our cafeteria was completely shut down, we didn't even get to experience it. I was so upset that we got no warning of that, so as soon as I saw that little disclaimer, I instantly took it off my radar. But from the looks of the review, the construction isn't that obtrusive.

We love CSR and POR. Stayed at POR last summer and booked CSR for our trip in October. We booked a preferred room which guarantees us a refurbished room and is also a ways away from the construction.

We've noticed the business travelers in the past and that is honestly my one negative with the resort. As a business traveler myself, it did burst my Disney "bubble" a bit and I wasn't fond of hearing conference calls sitting by the lagoon while eating breakfast. They were never disruptive or loud so they didn't impact my stay, but their presence does give off a different vibe than vacationing families. I believe a recent episode of the Dreams Unlimited Travel podcast discusses this very topic at CSR.

Only other things I'll mention is that we noticed many more smokers than usual - maybe because there's more adults there not traveling with kids? Could just be a coincidence. Also, your experience may differ depending on the conference. It was a Tech convention when we were there which would be a very different vibe than a college group or another industry. We did notice many of them in the bar areas at night, and the buses to Disney Springs were busy at night because of them as well. Pepper Market was not really impacted.
