We are Disney regulars....travel every year in fall with DD16 and DD 9. We have also gone alone twice for Anniversary trips, staying at Pop once (before a cruise) and POFQ the other time we went alone. For our trips with the family, we have stayed all All Stars Movies, Pop, POFQ and POR, and CBR. We have been to resorts for meals and have love many of the deluxe resorts.. However, this June, we will be going for our 25th Anniversary.. I would love to do Beach Club...but not in the budget..so definitely a moderate for us. We stayed in Royal Guest room this Sept at POR and loved it and I'm booked there again for this September with our Family.. POFQ isn't included with the free dining bounce back and we didn't like CBR.. too spread out.. Thoughts on Cornado Springs? We have to decide between Cornado Springs or POR. While I love POR, Cornado Looks amazing! Now I have a Preferred room booked, which means I will be in Casistas 1, 2, or 3, which is a great location. I know if is far from main pool, but we wont' be using that much. Just hoping I won't miss POR , just want to go somewhere different. For an anniversary trip, I want somewhere quiet and a romantic atmosphere would be great too..We loved to walk POR at night and Cornado Springs, in pics and videos anyway, seems to be beautiful at night as well. Any input would be greatly appreciated!!!! TIA!!!!!!!!

I typically prefer Coronado. It's quiet and interesting. I prefer the theme to POR.

We've been to both and we prefer Coronado. We love Casitas too. It is a great location. The buses at Coronado were so much quieter and less kids, in our experience. And we really enjoy Pepper Market for breakfast. We actually tried to book Coronado for our upcoming trip...but they are full. So we are back at Riverside.

Edited to say I do not have anything against children. We have a son too. But at the end of a park day, it seemed like Riverside's buses were crammed full of families with over-tired kids. At Coronado, the buses seemed more empty, maybe because folks were there on business so they were busy with their conferences.

Part of me thinks that if you feel like you're going to miss POR...you probably are. For whatever reason the people that love PO (Riverside or French Quarter or both equally) truly do love it and nothing else makes you feel quite at home as they do. My husbands favorite moderate is FQ and mine is POR. When we can afford it we branch out to the Deluxes but are always so happy when we have a trip booked at Port Orleans. We had a bad check in experience at Coronado, which I think tarnished the trip and my potential love of the resort. I do hope I can get back to see if we just had a bad experience or if we just didn't like the resort. I think that for the same reasons that you didn't enjoy CBR you will not enjoy Coronado Springs. It has a similar set up to Coronado...around a big lake and lots of sidewalks. The Port Orleans resorts have lots of trees with the buildings close to the pathways which I think helps with the ambiance as opposed to it seeming like a concrete jungle. Now, I didn't enjoy my stay at Coronado, but I didn't have a problem with Caribbean Beach. But if I could ever choose it would be at POR. I hope wherever you choose to stay that it is magical and that you have a wonderful time! Happy 25th Anniversary! My husband and I are going on 4 and I can only hope we're in the same position someday!

Can I ask what happened at check in at Cornado?

Thanks!!! We don't have Anything against children either...we have 2...but...nothing wrong with quite peaceful buses on an anniversary trip, right ? :)

We stayed at CSR for our 25th anniversary trip. We love it there. Walking around the lake and grounds is so peaceful and romantic! Also, they gave us a certificate for a free champagne toast at the outdoor bar which was nice. We love POR as well but CSR is our favorite moderate! They also have a fitness center and salon and I think they offer massages as well.

Congratulations!pixiedust:

We had to book CSR preferred at Christmas after having to cancel a DCL christmas cruise due to ill health. We really wanted POR but it was fully booked by then. We were dissapinted and not excited about staying at CSR. Well... I had to eat our words! What a delightful resort! We were saying we were glad POR was full. We would never have tried it. Not only were the staff wonderful, the lights at night amazing. Rooms nice, pepper market food court cute. We loved it. The pool near us was great too. You will love it! You can see the fireworks over the lake. It's magical.

Can I ask what happened at check in at Cornado?

Aww! We started dating in high school too :-)!

This was back when they first started making king rooms a bookable category. We had booked a King bed and had a wonderful check in experience with the cast member. Drive over to our room and as we were walking to our room were thinking 'no way!' We got a water view room too! This is amazing!' Haha then we walked in and saw two beds...waaaah waaaaah! At the time I had booked the room under an annual pass discount and all the room types were available. At a moderate we always only book either standard or King bed rooms. We don't mind walking far and since there isn't a balcony we don't mind standard. I honestly wouldn't have cared if they told us at the front desk that we weren't going to be in a king bed. I just would have liked to know before getting to the room. So there we were in this room...which was a water view room...great location but I would have booked the standard room and saved the money.

So I called the 'front desk' (didn't know then that it was a call center) to explain the situation. She said yes I see that and you've been upgraded to a lovely water view room. I said it wasn't an upgrade (it was a lateral move...same price) and that I would not have booked a water view room had King beds not been available...I would have booked standard which was available at the time. She said the resort was at capacity and that I couldn't be moved. I was more annoyed that she repeatedly tried to tell me that I had been upgraded. After over an hour talking/waiting on hold while she talked to a supervisor it was finally fixed and they gave us the price of a standard room keeping us in the water view room. My husband and I are the people who will have something wrong with our meals and not send them back because we feel bad doing so...so we are definitely not complainers. It just really bothered me that we weren't made aware that we didn't get the room we booked at check in because it cost us over an hour of our vacation trying to fix it. I think if that hadn't happened we probably really would have enjoyed our stay. It was just an unfortunate way to start the trip.

We tried CSR this past Oct. We really love CBR, but thought for a short trip we would do CSR. We also did Business class. For 11 dollars over what a preferred room was, it was well worth it. Loved the breakfast in the lounge and the snacks at night. Not a full meal by any means, but was enough for breakfast. Husband loved the coffee. Closer to everything, even a preferred room is further away. Very few kids around that building. Adult pool very close. We have decided CSR is our new favorite resort.

Have you considered the Coronado Business class rooms? They are not advertised (I found out when booking with a cast member for our anniversary). The business class rooms are in a building between the pool area, bus stop, and main resort building. When we stayed it offers a continental breakfast form 8 to 10AM and free beer, wine, sangria, soda with snacks from 5 to 10 PM and at the business lounge on the ground level (magic band access). I think it was about $50/night for the upgrade but that was 5 years ago.

Coronado IS amazing! We spent part of our honeymoon there, as well as our 10 year anniversary. I would definitely recommend it!

Thanks everyone!!!!; Now I'm.more excited than ever about CSR!!!! Definitely keeping my reservation there....we may love it so much , we may change our Sept family trip with the girls from POR to CSR!!! We will have to wait and see. Quick question. Right now we are preferred Casitas....we could do cabanas for Business class or just as a standard room requesting that area...what are the views like? I don't see it from our room but love to request a high floor and stand at night on walkway and enjoy beautiful lights if courtyard view or a river view...if you get top floor, very lite traffic so it's practically a private walkway/balcony anyway... What views are do most of the cabana rooms have? Lots of water view or mostly parking lots and grass? Thanks in advance :)

DH and I stayed at CSR last year for our 15th anniversary, and we both kept saying how much our kids would have loved the pool and playground area, so that might just happen! :) It does "feel" more adult than POR, I'm sure just b/c there are statistically more adults on the property for conventions, but the main pool is SO impressive plus the adjacent playground looks really neat. I like POR's pool, has a lovely feel to the whole area, but it isn't as "whoa". It was almost a bummer the kids missed it. (Almost... ;) )We thought the buses were better than POR, but that's so hit or miss at any resort. Try not to use the stop at the main building, as practically everyone goes there in the morning. We had zero regrets with our choice. Maya Grill has nice secluded booths, walking around the lake is romantic, and the giant hot tub was perfect in the late evening. We enjoyed it so much, I have a really hard time justifying paying more to stay deluxe on an eventual 20th or 25th anniversary trip. Happy planning!!

We spent two weeks there in August/September. Our room was clean and lovely. We loved the Cabanas section. The food was delicious. It was very quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Buses were okay. The only thing I noticed was that the hot tub was never hot enough. So it was always packed full of kids in the evening. This is not really a complaint (since my own kids enjoyed the hot tub), it's just more of an observation.

I did miss POFQ/POR though. Usually when we leave a resort, I'm sad to go. But not this time. We may return to CSR some day, but I have no real desire at this point to do so. I think I just really missed the theming of the POFQ/POR resorts or there was something lacking at CSR. I just can't put my finger on it.
